March 27th

I have learned months ago to not go by what anyone says in relation to the release date of the v600, but here is what I got from my local Motorola and AT&T reps in my area:

'AT&T is shooting, provided there are no more problems with this new "tweak" to the software, to launch the v600 on March 27th at AT&T retail stores nationwide.'

The stores that will first be selling the phone, and coincidentally are the ones that already have the phone, are the larger, higher volume stores nationwide. I have no way of determining if your local store is "larger, high volume", but ask and see, the worst that can happen is someone tell you they have no clue, thereby reinforcing that AT&T stores are staffed with "warm bodies" and not necessarily intel...

"buggy software"? i don't get it..

can someone please explain to me why motorola claims they're reviewing the phone for "buggy software" when it's been available in europe for weeks? people here (hollywood "stars", execs, importers) have been using them just fine for weeks.

something doesn't seem right here. not to knock them, but hollywood "stars" don't seem like the brightest of people. would you put a buggy phone in their hands? would saying "i went to the oscars and all i got was this crappy moto phone that crashes all thetime." do them good? i can't think so.

i can't imagine a reason why they'd delay coming out with the phone, but all these excuses are just lame and make no sense. if the phone really is that bad, why have they been shipping out so many?

HELP: activate v600 or xfer SIM from another phone?

Hi!

I'm ready to go get a AT&T shared family plan for me and my family (total of 4 lines) ... I was wondering, which would be better:

1. Activate 4 free phones at the AT&T store and transfer the SIM card from one of those phones to my v600, so I have an extra phone for free. I'm wondering if the transfer would work ...
2. Or should I just get the plan and activate my v600 at the store and 3 free phones at the same time? I'm wondering if this is the best, if AT&T needs to program extra stuff in my v600 or not (my v600 is unlocked/sim-free)

Thanks!
Cass

Motorola Camera Phone for AT&T Wireless Suffers Second Delay

Motorola's V600 camera phone, which was supposed to be available to customers of AT&T Wireless Services in time for last years holiday season, has been delayed a second time, AT&T Wireless said.
AT&T Wireless, which is based in Redmond, Wash., plans to start selling the phone around late April, AT&T Wireless spokesman Ritch Blasi said in an interview. The handset had been scheduled for shipment by the end of last month, after failing to pass testing in time for yearend sales, he said.
Another Motorola camera phone, the V810, failed in testing earli...

Probably gonna get a V400 already...anyone used one before?

Well,

The wait for the V600 is taking way too long, and I think I'm on my way to switch over to Cingular (my contract is up next month) and get a V400, or at least buy a V400 now, and use it until my contract is up with AT&T.

Anyone have a V400 while they're waiting for a V600? The basic differences are the changeable faceplates and the bluetooth feature on the V600, right? Any comments on the V400?

v600 for cingular? looks like gunho!

I talked to a sale guy at cingular. The company told him they are getting the phone next month. But who knows... they might delay it. People buying the v600 early or from vodafone..I'm like skeptic about it. I rather get the motorola V690 or V878.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the Aston Martin Flex that gives the AM ringtones and wallpapers? I found a guy that sells v600's and will flex them with the AM stuff, but you have to buy the phone from him to get it done. I already have my v600 and don't particularily want to buy another one.

Thanks in Advance..... ๐Ÿ˜Ž

AT&T Wireless is full of it! Late April? What the Hell?

AT&T Wireless delays new Motorola camera phone
Monday March 8, 6:44 pm ET

Motorola, the world's second-largest cell phone maker, said in January that AT&T Wireless, the No. 3 U.S. wireless carrier, would carry the V600 starting in February.

Camera phones are the hottest part of the global cell phone market, but Motorola's lineup in that market has been plagued by delays.

"We needed to do some further testing on the device, so we've pushed it back to late April for availability," said Ritch Blasi, a spokesman for AT&T Wireless.

A Motorola spokeswoman said the delay was part of normal carrier testing of new phones and was not an indication of problems with the phone or supply issues. The phone is expected to sell for about $300 w...

A Little Venting

Well after reading that Reuters article on the Yahoo finance page, I now believe ATT will not have this phone until late April. As a result, I have decided to go with another phone, maybe the SE. What I do know is that it wont be a motorola or an ATT phone, I am a sprint customer and wanted to port my number to ATT and get this phone because of the terrible customer service with Sprint. Well both ATT and Motorola and kiss my ass, I will NEVER use any of there products. I sent both an email stating this, but I dont expect any replies, with the way they have handled this whole V600 situation, its obvious they do not care about the customer. I even put in a request to my companies IT guy for a non-motorola pager and he said he would do it....

V600 Addressbook limitations?

From reading the v600 manual, it would appear that the v600 addressbook can only hold phone-numbers and email addresses. This isn't useful for me, since I like to carry with me other contact info sync'd from MS Outlook, in particular street address info.

Can anyone confirm this limitation? And does anyone know of any work-arounds? Eg 3rd-party J2ME apps, or maybe ATTWS-supplied value-added apps?

At&t or T-Mobile

First I hear the V600 is going to At&t then T-mobile who is right? Can both of them get the V600? I wont believe it till it actually comes out.

T-Mobile & V600

T-Mobile USA will be carrying the V600 and it will be coming out sometime next quarter (2nd Quarter).

The best thing about this is that since it is a Bluetooth enabled phone and since T-Mobile always gives free handsfree headsets you can expect to see the V600 to come packaged with a FREE Bluetooth headset.

So just thought everyone would like to know.

What do you mean "call Brooklyn". Brooklyn is a prety big area. Could you be more specific?

I've looked areound in NYC and have found the v600 offered (Lex ave. just south of 86th street, next to the Dunkin Donuts; at another place on 86th, just east of 3rd; and at a few places downtown near union square and in the west village) but all of them offered the phone for around $500 to $550 with a contract (the phones were vodaphone branded).

If you found a better deal, please pass it on.
