Look on the web for XDA developers. There are instructions on the site to set up Android on the HD2. There is a way to run a dual boot to give you the option of either windows mobile or android.
You should know that there are still some glitches associated with running android but the XDA developer team is close to fixing them all and has the status updated on their site.
I hope this helps you.

I'm going to try this tonight

To find the roms go to xda-developers and go to the HD2 rom development section and read the FAQ. Everything is still in testing but I use it on a daily basis
...
I got it already lol but thanks though
...
are you serious?? the only thing holding me back from getting the HD2 is android!! if i could get android on the phone it would be perfect and i wouldnt have to switch to spring for the evo!

So..I set up Android on my HT2 yesterday and after playing with it for a couple of hours..I switched back to Windows Mobile.
I was REALLY excited about the possiblity of loading android on the HD2 and researched as much as I could before I loaded the latest version (Froyo). It just didn't seem to function any better than Winmo for me and although Android has more apps in their market, most of them are games and stuff that really doesn't make the phone any nicer.
There are still about 3 bugs left in Android on the HD2 including gps, lack of transfer of contacts and a glitch with the backlight so I may try it later and use a dual boot option but for now..I'm actually very happy with the system that's on the phone.
...
GPS works, contacts do transfer if they're saved to the SIM, but the backlight on BUTTONS has problems. Also, the speaker is not loud enough, but it's still pretty stable.

Thanks Sky,
I did load the latest version on my storage card from XDA and when I tried to download an android app(google skymaps) it errored on me to indicate that GPS was not functioning.
I'l probably load dual boot on it and keep trying. I've got to research on how to transfer my contacts over to the Sim card(I've got them in the main root now and they didn't show)
I actually use the BN e-reader a bit and need the backlight as well so I can shift back to winmo for that.
...
right, and to be quite honest, WinMo is starting to grow on me dude, there's an additional App Store called "Omarket"... there's a way to make the tabs look better, called "co0kie" and there's also a playstation emulator called "FPSECE 0.10"... now that I haven't figured out how to work just yet. But this phone is pretty sick, seriously

Thanks,
I'm going to checkout omarket this evening. To be honest, so far I like winmo alot as well(even though I didn't think that I would). I'm envious of the ability to scan a bar code with the phone to download an app.
Do you know if there is any way to use the bar scanning with the HD2(with or without Android)?
Thanks
...
With Android, yes, without, I'm not too sure but I'll try it on my break and let you know.

Thanks Sky,
I appreciate that. I can do a search when I get off in a couple of hours. Do you work for a provider?
...
Not a provider, but an insurance company.
...
but I couldn't find one... then again we don't get good 3G service at my job, mostly stays in EDGE or 1-2 bars 3G

Thanks for your help sky,
I downloaded omarket and it's very nice compared to other sites(and very fast). I just d'ld Co0kies and am going to try it out.
I work for T-mo and got a great deal on my HD2(free) with a dealer plan which is pretty awesome.
Let me know if you find any other awesome apps and I'll do the same

Awesome suggestion on Co0kies btw..I've been looking for something just like this to give more flexibility and then I discovered CHTeditor to add more.
Thanks!

Np pal, yeah if I think of anything else I'll post

So..I had to share..I found an app called mobiletag on omarket and it allows you to scan any bar code and will show you the best price for the item you're looking at with your hd2.
Simply awesome.

will be downloading!!!

I'm finally running android cleanly on the hd2 and it's working pretty nice. I like the wm rom but android is so much more flexible and I can still use the dual boot.
Life is good.

So..I'm getting a couple of buggy errors on android that are deal breakers. The primary one being that phone calls are sometimes completely garbled or just don't come through.
I'm also getting little screen freezes on a random basis that I can fix by going to the home screen and then going back to the app.
I can handle minor freezes but having the phone functional at all times(it is after all the primary function) is absolutely necessary.
Any thoughts?
...
my phone has issues on it also, I get LOW sound. speakerphone option on it is crap, but I'm mostly a texter anyway so it doesn't bother me too much... but to be quite honest I'd rather use the WinMo... it's all about customization.

I'm probably going to end up primarily using the WinMo platform until the bugs can get cleared.
Co0kies was a a great improvement but the flexibility of Android really spoils you.
Have you considered running an alternate WM rom that would give more customization options?
...
No, I haven't tried that yet, I don't wanna do nothin like that unless I'm 100% sure it won't cause any problems

FYI, I tried a couple of alternate windows roms after I ran hspl and ...they were just ok for me. I ended up trying them for a day or two to see if they cleared up the android issues and they really didn't.
I ended up re-installing the stock rom from T-mobile and re-installing Co0kies and my other apps.
The alternate roms look ok on XDA but my experience is that they just don't feel or function as nice as the standard rom.
Having said that, if a windows 7 rom becomes available, I'm sure that I'll try it out. Once you've gone through the process once or twice, you have a comfort level knowing that you can go back if you need to.

I bought this phone the day it came out, they'be had a winmo7 ROM since then... but the demensions were off

Are you saying that there is a Winmo 7 rom that's available for the hd2?

yes, but the resolution is off, words run off the side of the screen lol

Didn't I see you posting that you have a bb torch as well or was that someone else?
Are you still happy with your HD2?
...
yes I have a torch also, I'm letting my cousin use my HD2 while I test out this torch & I'll make my final decision in a week or so... I usually always go back to the HD2 though lol
