Pix "retrieving"

saty1

When I get an incoming pix message the display says "pix retrieving" even though I haven't done anything yet.

Is this charged as connect time ???

But, shouldn't I have to do something, like ask it to retrieve the pix ??? I leave the phone on during the day, and someone (and this would be wrong) sends me 100 pixs ??? Why can't I wait till after 9pm to download them ???

Sending and retrieving text and pix messages never costs you airtime.

I hope you're right about this, but every time I send myself a pix/ringtone from vzwpix.com to myself, the "1x" is gone and the "phone" icon shows up, indicating to me that airtime is being used...

If this isn't the case, then I'm happy, but I was under the impression that it does use airtime b/c some pix take longer to load to your phone than others...

I hope I'm wrong..

I don't mean to disagree with you OverMuch but I also see the "Phone Icon" appear on the caller ID screen when i am either sending or recieving a picture message. I do think that counts against peak minutes and that is why I don't usually send them out during the weedays until after 9:00 or during the weekends.

Okay...so I'm not the only person who notices the phone icon?! *takes herself off the crazy pills*

Well, by all means, I'm glad you two DID disagree. I decided that I should really look up and post proof that you're not billed airtime, and, to my HUGE surprise, you two ARE correct. You ARE billed airtime for sending a pix.

I was absolutely incorrect. Luckily, I've never had this situation come up with a live customer, or I would have given them the wrong info.

So thanks for the reality check...I appreciate it.

Yes you are!!!! Any time your phone uses airtime to get a TXT message, photo message, etc, you will use airtime minutes!

for this reason, when I'm using vzwpix.com, I'll do it during N/W minutes as they are unlimited...

But my original point was that I wasn't "doing" anything, not using vzwpix, the phone was just idle, sitting on my desk, and it went out to retireve the pix.

Yes and when that happens, that means that somebody else is sending you a picture message because after the phone says "retrieveing pix message" the message folder says "inbox 1/1" or however many messages you have in you inbox.

The answer is still "yes." If someone else sends you a pix, TXT, whatever, as your phone retrieves it, then you are using airtime...if you don't want this to happen, then call VZW and ask them to "turn off" this feature.

Actually, txt does *not* use airtime, whereas pix *does*. And believe me, I double checked to make sure. I can back that up w/ firsthand experience, too, as I use txt in the thousands per month and have a relatively low number of mins each month.

While I mention it, I wish they would just display the menu code at each place you are at.

Like just put "3923" in the space between the soft key names .....
