Standby Time

I've heard that the battery on the A670 is not the best. I don't know a whole lot about cell phones. Standby time is the time the phone is on, but not being used, right?

That's my understanding of the term. 670 says 7 days, but so far mine isn't even close to that. But no phone that I have ever owned has come close to published standby times, if we are correct about the definition.

Let me raise this question. I have read that you should allow the battery to drain down totally before recharging, and the battery will develop a "memory" to power all the way up. Others have said they plug in recharger at night and they never have the indicator come off of full even with significant use. Anyone know if the recharging method matters? Seems the owners manual for 670 is silent on this issue.

I have heard that you want to let the battery drain down totally the first three times, then let it drain down once every couple weeks. Other than that it doesn't matter. And also like it mentioned in another reply, some off the techs told me that you should only use your car lighter charger in emergencies and not on a regular basis.

As far as I know you don't need to let a lithium ion battery drain all the way because they don't have a memory. Cordless phone batteries or nickel cad's do have a memory and thats why you should always charge one all the way the fist time and occasionally let it drain completely before recharging. My a530 is about one year old now and i have always kept the battery charged and it still works fine 🙂 though most rechargeables last only a year or so if they are constantly used....also I was messing around with the 670 the other day and noticed how much the camera and especially the video feature suck up your battery so try to avoid that.
