handsfree earpice

mobilephone

Jun 16, 2004, 5:14 PM
I just switchd to verizon from at&t... and picked up the a670. I use my handsfree a lot while so I wanted to make sure I got voice dialing.

Here is my annoyance, with my old t68i, the earpiece had a answer/end call button. Therefore you would not have to touch your phone to answer (or open for flips). Also you just had to hold down the earpiece button to then do voice dialing. Again, never having to fiddle with the phone.

Verizon store says that no earpiece for samsungs have this answer/end call button on them. This is crazy. So I still have to fiddle with my phone to make a call, answer a call, everything!

Any feedback/input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Can't help as far as making a call, but ending a call happens automatically when the person on the other end hangs up.

As for answering, why not set the phone to auto answer when the headset it plugged in. I know it's buried in the settings somewhere...

Just wanted to let you know that the lgvx4500 has a cool driving mode that will work with what you want, also the vx7000 that is coming out from lg should have the same driving mode, you wouldn't have to flip open the phone to answer a call.

alright, found out that the actual samsung brand handsfree for this for says that it has an answer/end call button and the button can activate the voice dialing. This phone has great voice dialing!

So it seems that it is just Verizon's handsfree (ones you can purhcase in their stores) do not have this button or functionality. And the kind reps neglected to inform me of this 🙂.

Just and FYI.

Where'd you find this out? Where can the actual Samsung brand handsfree be purchased?

I went to Samsung's website (think its www.samsungusa.com) and looked for accesoreis for the a670 just to make sure.

They have a normal earbud handsfree and the description says it has the answer/end call button, which can also activate the voice dialing.

It was $14.99 (cheaper than verizon stores). I have not receieved it yet, so am unsure how it will work. But, I have usually had good luck in the past wiht using the brand name accessories (ie with Nokia and sony-ericsson). Don't know why verizon stores do not carry phone manufacturer brand accessoreis. Maybe they don't make as much $ on them.

Hope that helps.

If you go to walmart they carry Belkin(I think) hands frees that have an in-line button that ends/begins calls and it only works with samsung phones. Hope that helps! 🙂

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.

I purchaced the samsung handsfree accessory and I like the fact that it has the answer/end button. However, how do I get voice dialing to actually work? When I press the answer/end button it simply wants to dial the last number that phone dialed. I've tried holding down the button and speaking into the microphone and still got nothing. What am I doing wrong? 😕

You go into the voice menu and in the setup menu you select Set Active to [*]/EarMic....then when you use the headset with the phone closed...you push and hold the botton the headset and it should say ....please say a command...etc...it is a bit finicky depending on how you push and hold the button, but overall it works great and is truly handsfree

Can anyone who bought the Samsung head set tell me whether the earpiece is an earbud, goes in the ear, or on the ear. And also how the volume on it is.

Thanks so much.

the earpeice is very agreeable to my ear. it does go in your ear, but it has a small peice on it that adds to the bud, very small wraparound plastic on the actual bud that keeps it snug in your ear. no cords or wires that fit around your ear, simply the one ear bud. the volume is fine and it is very easy to understand one another during conversation. however if you don't find the volume to your liking you can simply use the volume tabs on the side of your phone, even while it is closed to adjust to your favorite volume level. highly recommended samsung product.
