I saw this phone today and liked the feel and sound of it better than the lg vx6000. As I was reading reviews, there were two thing that bothered me and I hope I can get some of you to comment on them.
First, someone wrote that you cannot turn the shutter sound off on the camera. Is this true? That would be awfully stupid if so.
Second, I see that there is no usb data interface available for this phone yet. Does anyone know if this is just a temporary problem. I would imagine, especially with video you cannot send, that a data cable would be pretty much needed for this phone. I'd love to see a mac compatible interface for it (i know the vx6000 has one). Does anyone know if that will be out soon?
thanks,

I can't help you with the second question, but I can help you with your first...

No...you cannot turn off the shutter sound...I "think" this is now true of all camera phones (although I could be mistaken). The reason for this is to thwart those who take another's picture without consent in compromising places (there was a rash of men taking pix in women's restrooms a while back undetected). The shutter sound is to protect the public...

Yeah i can understand that a little bit, but for someone who works on film sets and needs all functions of the phone to be as silent as possible, thats not a good feature and if its not true of all camera phones then theres no point in making it mandatory on this phone.
Speaking of silent features, is it at least possible to turn the keypad tones off?

Also as far as my first question I did a little more digging and apparently the data cables for some older samsungs will work on this phone.
Anyone had any specific successes/failures?

I haven't tried it but I have heard of a few people having succes using the data cables from the a-530. I have heard that it worked prefectly.

Yes...I believe this is an option...although I haven't gone into the setting myself because I like the keytones, but I think if you go into the sounds setting, you will find what you are looking for.

yup, go to settings -- sounds -- key beep -- volume -- turn that to silent.
