Samsung SCH-A650

My sister has this phone but she can't fing where her downloaded pictures go.....
She is using Bitpim
If anyone can help us out we would appreciate it! 😕

Is the keypad for this phone suppose to be backlit, or has it been disabled on purpose?

Go to Menu/Display/Backlight/Keypad and it gives you the option of 5, 10, 15 seconds or Folder Open. The User Guide has it too.

I was going to take the phone back to the store to fix it or exchange it, but then I saw a User Review that said one of the cons is that the Keypad isn't backlit.

I too have tried to assign a custom ring tone to various callers (work, family) but the phone always rings the default. Tried adding the area code as suggested prior but still no luck! Any help??

Is anyone having trouble with the battery life on this phone? It basically sucks. I bought two phones from Verizon in signing up with new service. Both phones are bad. They both die within about 35-40 hours whether there is talk time or not. One of them has a terrible static/clicking sound on it. I've had verizon service now for a month and have barely been able to use it because these phones are awful. I've complained and have been told to go to a VZW store for help and the stores tell me they can't help. I wish I stayed with T-Mobile...

Let me share with you my great experience about this small and nice data kit I have, this MA-8212 works EXCELLENT on my A650, for ringers/melody, wallpapers/pictures, phone data, calandar...very powerful and nice tool that let me to manage stuff from my cell! One important thing I must say, the tool's price is very reasonable, and with great features! Unlike those other craps try to rip-off us!
If you are a samsung lover, you do not want to miss this great product!

samsung has the pclink software listed on its website as being compatible for a650

has anyone been able to use PCLINK 1.0 with win XP machine??

Here's a little something I figured out..

For some reason ringtones from modtones sound quieter than usual on all VZW flip phones. I don't know the complete reason but I just know thats the case (tried on mine, my friends VX 4400, my friends VX 6000, and one of my friends CDM 8900, and my old KX 414). All the times, the ringers from modtones were louder on my old KX 414 (my brother's phone now).

But I've also found that ringtones from MIDIringtones tend to be louder (louder than the a650's preset ringers), making it really easy for me to tell when my phone's ringing while I'm in a crowd (i.e. at school during lunch).

my daughter just got this phone yesterday and was wondering if there was a way to set certain phone numbers to ring and other numbers to vibrate (or silent). if not, can anyone suggest a similar phone that has this option. thanks

Verizon is offering a 2-for-1 offer for either the Sam SCH-a650 or LG VX4600. I prefer the LG largely because of its external display (Samsung lacks one). Aesthetics aside, I want to select the one with rock-steady performance and better overall coverage. Any advantages to Samsung being tri-mode vs. LG's dual mode? Would appreciate feedback on this distinction, even from those not familiar with the actual phones.

i just got this phone and i was wondering, every time i try to get on the mobile web it says that the security key is not enabled and prompts me to enable it and every time it trys to it says security key not recognized..Any idea why i cant get on....thanks

I've had this phone for almost two weeks. It gets hot after a few minutes of use and really hot after 10-15 minutes of use.

Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a defect in the phone? Verizon has replaced the battery once already.

Other than that problem, I love the phone.

Ok, this is driving me crazy. When you first turn on the phone, it goes through a couple of start up screens and then the message "Entering Service Area" comes on in the triangle with the exclamation point and an annoying TWEET sound occurs. This also happens as you are driving or walking everytime you enter or leave the "service area." I have gone into the menu under Sounds/Alerts/Service and turned that to "off" but that hasn't worked. So my question is two-fold...(1) Does anyone know how to turn off the tweet? and (2) If the Sounds/Alerts/Service being changed to "off" didn't work, than what is that for?

what do you all think? Which phone is better? I think i'm leaning towards the samsung. Does the samsung have a service indicator light?? i'd like some advice on these phones from people with the verizon network. thanks

Hi, I'm considering getting a-650, but had a quick question. Since it doesn't have an outside display, what happens if you miss a call? Does the light blink for me to check, or do I have to frequently check by opening the phone?

Also, is there a way to 'ignore' an incoming call w/o opening the phone?

Heya everyone. I just bought this phone, and I am REALLY disappointed in the ringer volume, or the lack of it. At "level 5" it is VERY low. Is there some setting I am missing, or does this phone simply not ring very loud - or do I have a defective phone?

After reading the manual, it says you can designate an entry secret. However, that is all I can find on it. Does anyone know how to actually do this? Thank you.

I am now on my third phone (SCH-A650 Verizon service) in less than two weeks. Here is the problem and I hope someone has a fix or a solution of some sort.

When I download a customized ringtone from either Ringster or Modtones (via the Get It Now feature of a Verizon phone) and assign it to a specific person, everything works great...until I turn the phone off. When I turn it back on, all the downloaded ringtones assigned to different people are wrong. The phone actually advances the ringtone one place in the selection list. In other words the distinctive ringer feature is useless if the battery ever goes dead.

Verizon doesn't seem to have anything on this and the only help they have offered is, you guessed it...another phone!

I have talked to many people with phones, Samsung included, without external displays who can't open their phone without answering it and they say that they might as well not even have Caller ID and are upset about it.

Does the Samsung SCH-A650 allow you to turn off "answer when opened" or whatever it is called so that you can actually see who is calling and decide if you need to take this call right now?

I just got my phone 2 weeks ago and it will not let me connect to get it now. I signed a plan for Verizon when I bought the a650 and thought it included this feature.

When I try to connect I get an error message saying "try again later (534)." Did anyone else have this problem or can help?
