I think by ".mid" you mean MIDI files, is this true? If not, please ignore me!

MIDI files are note-by-note lists of all the notes in a piece. They look like "at time t=345 turn on note in patch 4 on pitch 17" etc.

MP3 is a compressed format for recorded audio. That is, "at time 12345 the volume level should be 6789". Different instruments come from the shape of the waveform generated by all the sequential time/volume pairs.

To convert, you would need software that identifies instruments in the music, and figures out what notes they're playing when. This is an open research topic. So, sorry, nope.

There's one possibility: if you can just sample time segments of the MP3 and install those as custom "instruments" (as in, this r...

1) Downloaded http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/ to trim my mp3's to 25 seconds long. I called my cell and the timer on my landline phone indicated roughly 26 seconds till voicemail.

1) I downloadedhttp://www.acoustica.com/ to convert mp3's to wavs and vise versa.

2) Then you just decode your mp3's to wav

3) Encode them back to mp3 at your choice of rate, i chose 32bits @ 24k.

4) Go to windows explorer and change the extension of the mp3 to .mid.

5) My files were about 110kb which is good.

6) Opened www.vzpix.com and emailed them to my phone as attachemnts.

7) Opened up the email on the phone, saved the sound, and it automatically saved it as a ringer. Although with a wierd name. Anyhow the ×××× works, and it sound...

If you go to vzwpix.com, you can attach midi files to your message. I would recommend not more than 8 at once due to the message not opening on phone if too large. You can download your polyphonic ringers from a file share program like Limewire, Kazaa, etc. Have fun.
