I was told by someone who had just gotten this phone that it does have USB, but I notice that in the features it says it does not, so I'm not quite sure.

Do you actually think Verizon would make it so convienent for one to actually be able to download pics without having to pay the .25 for each picture? Just look what they did with the bluetooth to all the poor V710 owners. But if this phone does have USB capability, I would definitely like to know.

If there is a cable, then is there software available for downloading pix and ringtones from the phone? Bitpim says not to use the Audiovox 8900 with it because "Their internal software is very fragile and they can easily be rendered inoperable." Is this true of the 9900 phone also?

the VZW rep said that the mobilve office software is only good for synching up contacts. no-can-do on the pic/ringtones/backgrounds, etc.

Doesn't surprise me any. Why would Verizon want one to be able to download pics and ring tones without having to pay them through GIN and charging the 25 cents for each pic. Sort of what they did with the V710 and crippling the blue tooth so you can only operate a wireless headset with it. Funny how Verizon wants to be the leader in cell phone technology yet they render features inoperable just so they can get their couple of cents. After all, it's not like they already make a killing on the cell service itself. Yea right!

Oh and by the way, Doesn't Verizon realize how unhappy they make some of their customers by rendering features inoperable and taking a chance by losing customers then by just not caring if one is able to download pics that aren't even the best quality to begin with? Don't they realize how much more they would make on their service signing up new customers then by squeezing 25 cents here and there out of us?

I wonder if anyone has tried Brewsky, GAGIN, or QPST. Might be awhile, since I haven't seen many cables available yet.

The 9900 isn't on the list of software responding phones, but the website looks like it hasn't been updated since 1998 anyway, so....

The information there says the ones that do are ONLY via serial port (!), no USB, no Mac, no, nunca, never, not. Weird phone. I like mine, but I agree with many who say it's got some really dumb aspects.
