Nokia 6230

This phone hasn't been made available for AT&T. But the networks are about to merge and the calling plans will be looking more and more similar. If you are an AT&T customer and not under contract, then you should definitely port to Cingular now, while you still can. Sign up through an online agent that has subsidized prices on phones for new Cingular customers.

If you are under contract, then wait two more weeks. Cingular will be offering contract amnesty to AT&T customers who want to switch to a Cingular plan.

I work for Cingular Wireless customer service ... FYI, there's no reason to cancel your AT&T Wireless service and port to Cingular. We are going to all all AT&T customer's (regardless of whether or not your in a contract) to MIGRATE to Cingular Wireless without any penalties. You'll also be able to keep your same wireless number. The Migration should be available around the middle of November.

Thanks Loki4jdj, but it's no secret that the best deals on Cingular are for new customers going through an authorized agent, where the phones are heavily subisdized. If you are an AT&T customer and no longer under contract, you can switch now before 11/15 and get a much better deal.

I am an AT&T user and was looking at the Nokia 6820 but the 6230 looks infinitely better (is that true?). I didn't really want to switch to CIngular but I do want this phone. Are AT&T and Cingular pretty much identical now? Or does anyone know if this phone will be made available to AT&T users?

The 2 networks are merging so there is no difference. For calling plans, Cingular seems to give slightly fewer minutes that AT&T but you get rollover. Mobile-to-mobile calling will soon cross AT&T/Cingular so it doesn't matter either.

I finally ordered two 6230s with a family plan and chose this model over the 6820. I like the screen better and camera better, and the FM radio and MP3 player and video are nice, but the biggest thing was the expandable memory.

I ordered the 6230 from Wirefly for free after rebate and checked the box for them to switch me from AT&T to Cingular. My order was approved by Cingular and I am awaiting shipment at the moment. I thought this option to switch carriers and get a new customer deal wou...

By the way- do you know if this phone allows to send pictures as attachments to emails or only to other photo enabled phones? Also, how much storage there is for text messages (archiving, etc).

I found it by searching for nokia 6230 on google. There was a sponsored link for wirefly where it was free after rebate.

Wow. Searched again and now it's free after rebate PLUS a $25 gift card to Sports Authority from Nokia. Wish I'd waited a few days. Link is long but here it is:
