Number of rings- how to make it ring longer?
anime

My phone just rings three times and I usually miss the call- in the settings, I can't find how to make the phone have the incoming rings go longer until going into voicemail.
Anyone?
...
the ring time is determined by your carrier not your phone (eg 15 20 25 secs) call them to extend your ring time
...
i've complained about this a lot. i've asked cingular (my carrier) and they said there was nothing that could be done and many people were upset with how few rings it takes before voicemail picks up.

"On ANY GSM phone on Cingular, you can control the TIME (in seconds) that your phone will ring before it goes to VM. You can control this anytime you want and the change is immediate.
On your phone dial:
*61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*tt#
Where XXXXXXXXXX is your market's VM number and tt is the time in seconds you want the phone to ring for. I believe valid range is 1-30!"

just tried it on a motorola 551 and it didn't work

I tried on my V551 and all it did was turn on the call forwrading. If you want to change your number on rings (in seconds) all you have to do is call Customer Service and they can make it 0-30 seconds, but 30 is not recommended as you would be charged 1 minute for the call.

another suggestion... change your ring tone. a shorter tone means it will sound more times. My current ring tone only completes one time before going to voice mail.
