Nokia 6230
Rescan time???
I now have the Nokia 6200, which holds signal pretty well, but is very slow in finding signal, (even when power cycling it, it still takes time, or just doesn't find any)
[I used to have a Siemens S46 which was a brick, and doesn't have the voice quality and RF the 6200 has, but it found signal in seconds, it always looked for signal, if I walked outside (from indoors that had no service) it would get signal in 3 sec. as appose to my Nokia 6200, which could take 2-3 minutes, or even more..]
In short my question is, how is the rescan time on the Nokia 6230?? (Please compare it to some phones, including the above mentioned 6200, 1100 and S46)
also how does it compare reception wise with the 6200?...

First, the rescan time is super fast. Better than most other phones i've seen / used. My previous was a 6100 (bad RF, horrible rescan). I have experiences with Moto (v60 t720 v70), samsung e715 s307. The signal 9especially without an external stubby, is up there with the best and will resan immediately after if it loses signal.

I have the nokia 6200, which after losing service (even in a place that has 2-3 bars, but for a seconed it lost service) it will not look for service untill I go to a full service area, or I power cycle my phone, which is a pain b/c my house is in a low service area..

The 6230 will rescan and pick it up rather quickly, even if it is a weak signal area. Just put it this way. If i moved from a low signal area in the building to a no signal area, upon return to the low signal area, i will have the 2 bars withour need for restarting or forcing out a call.
Generally, Motorola phones and some Samsung with external antennas are pretty good with the RF. This phone is at least on par with those phones (perhaps even better). This phone is superior to other small Nokias.

Yes. There is a place where the other phones i used would lose signal and will not pick it back up (since it is 2 bars max (1 bar constant) until i restart or dial out and force it to pick up.
