Nokia 6820 / 6820i
Nokia 6820/Bluetooth/AIM
-they cannot, no way, no how, make the phone/ Bluetooth work for use as a wireless modem. I have a TrendNet TBW-101UB dongle. The phone and computer are definitely paired, I can synch contacts with PC Suite just fine. But, they have given me user names, passwords and dialup strings galore, it simply will not connect to the internet.
-even though there is a menu option for AIM, AOL's web site does not show the 6820 as a compatible phone, either as a Cingular or AT&T product. Cingular tells me that I need to contact AOL and "tell them to put it on their list"??? Problem is, when you call AOL tech support, they're "not from around here" and they have no idea what I am asking.
So, at this point I am actually willing to pay someone, anyone, to make this $270 expenditure worth it. Does anyone know what "type" of establishment would have technical people I can contract with to try to get a hands-on diagnosis and solution? Is Cingular right about the way to get this phone into AOL's "system"? Anyone with any other insights, I would be happy to dialogue with you. p.s.-is there any hope in the fact that Cingular and AT&T will soon be "one"? Thanks, Paul

However, I am not using AIM, rather am using the Pocket PC version of...

btw, the phone's reception and bt are awful
big mistake to get this phone
So, maybe this will help regarding the AIM client that is built in:

There is a text msg number setting but I think they may be different from 1 phone to the next.
I have noticed that the client software is lacking a few main features too: ie. showing a person as away/idle
The updates of the online/offline status is not very accurate... could be a AOL/wireless carrier issue .
