Distorted sound

Got my VX7000 this week at VRZ. Love everything about it except size and that I cannot take pictures in a dark place (flash is pretty useless). Also, I find that while the sound is loud, it is not so clear and what people is saying seems to get distorted. Anyone else have this problem?
