Motorola V710
Send later
Can people test the send later function on their text messages? This option is on the v710 when you hit the menu key on the last screen before a text message is sent.
If you could send a text message to yourself to be sent 1hr 5 min from the time you start this test.
If you could post
When you sent the message
What time you had it set to send to yourself
And what time you got the message
And what state you are in.
I have about 15 gmail invites so if you do test and want an invite ill give you one
Thanks for your testing
Regarding this "later" message test for the V710, I sent few messages because it did not seem to work.
I sent a test message at 9:18 AM to be delivered on 13-SEP-04 10:22 AM and no message yet and I am in Baltimore, Maryland.
I sent a test message at 10:35 AM to be delivered on 13-SEP-04 10:45 AM and no message yet and I am in Baltimore, Maryland.
I sent a test message at 10:37 AM to be delivered on 13-SEP-04 11:42 AM and no message yet and I am in Baltimore, Maryland.
I sent a test message at 11:36 AM to be delivered on 13-SEP-04 11:46 AM and no message yet and I am in Baltimore, Maryland.
If I sent a similar message NOT using this function, I got the message in a few seconds. As well re-sends of the messages ...

I still have 20 or so invites so if you did not get it invite let me know . I think we should be all set though allot of the time invites get stuck in junk mail in hotmail and yahoo. but I can IM them to you if needed.
Thanks

can you put the time your message shows up if at all. try to track if different time zones are seeing same delay
As I said it works for my bluetooth headset, syncing my schedule, my alarms, my contacts, and my "In Like Flint" ring etc. SO I'm happy.

I did call VerizonWireless for help on the "later" email issue. They did not think it was a real issue as their documentation did not describe it. They put it in as an "enhancement" request.
If needed, I can take the phone in and show the tech at the store that it does not work.
I am not happy with their response.
But I am still happy with what does work on my phone.
BTW - I did not get the invite at [email protected]
if you tried to send it. I hope you did not send it... with the "later" parameter.
If another email is needed [email protected] should also work...

Sent 1:12AM PST scheduled to arrive 2:12AM to my email address.
[TURNED PHONE OFF]
Arrived 2:12AM PST
[PHONE STILL OFF]
This tells me that the phone sent it right away, and the towers/network/whatever stores it and is supposed to send the message to me at the time i tell it to. I'll bet timezones and location have a lot to do with whether this works or not.
Location: Southern California
please send invite to [email protected]
