Multiple Bluetooth Devices

Has anyone been able to pair more than one device at a time to their v710? I have a Jabra 250 headset paired to my v710, an Ipaq h4155 and a 2004 Acura TL paired to the v710 and they all work individually. But lets say I'm sitting in my Acura and even though I'm not speaking on the phone I still cannot connect to the internet with the ipaq. This happens when I've turned on the Jabra headset, even though I'm not making a call, just having the Jabra linked to the v710 prevents the Ipaq from connecting to the internet. As soon I turn the Jabra off the Ipaq will connect.

i'm pretty sure you can only use one bluetooth device at a time..though you can have 8 (i think?) devices total with bluetooth, you can only use 1 at a time

Huh? Was this this stated somewhere? I did not know that this was a single channel connection. Is this imposed on the phone or a limitation of this particular technology?

(Even this still does not affect that the V710 does all that I need it to do...)

I don't think this is a Bluetooth thing. Microsoft sells a bluetooth and keyboard package that works through one USB adapter. It would seem to be logical that a phone should be able to connect to two bluetooth devices. One for a headset and one for communication services. The phone has two physical jacks for those purposes why not two Bluetooth ports.

I always thought you could only establish one bluetooth link at a time.

I will test this out in a few with my IPAQ4155 ... I will try to use DUN with the V710 and connect to my bluetooth GPS unit.

Then try the V710 with my Jabra and DUN to the IPAQ ...

that should atleast suggest if it is a BT limitation or specific to the hardware.

I have had the same problem. While my Jabra head set was turned on I attempted to dial a number from my Bluetooth Palm T3 and it acted like the phone was not even turned on. Once I turned off the head set it worked right away. Although technically it should be possible I think we may have Moto to blame for this. Their crippling of the Bluetooth is probably the culprit.

Yes, I think the issue is Motorola's implementation of Bluetooth. Bluetooth will handle multiple devices though. I have connected my h4155 ipaq to my ALK Copilot GPS receiver via Bluetooth and then simultaneously connected the pda to the Motorola v710 via Bluetooth to connect to the internet. In some areas you are supposed to be able to get traffic conditions into the GPS software using such a method.

Ok I verified. It seems like the V710 can only handle 1 BT connection at a time.

Test:
1:
Connected IPAQ to V710 via DUN, got out to internet and surfed web pages. Then connected IPAQ to Belkin GPS unit.

Both worked at the same time. 😁

2:
While IPAQ was connected DUN to v710, turned on Jabra BT Headset. Phone did not see Jabra. 👿

Disconnected DUN to IPAQ. Rebooted Jabra BT Headset. Phone linked to Jabra. Tried to establish DUN from IPAQ after Jabra had linked and IPAQ could not connect to V710. 👿

So it would seem that my IPAQ can handle multiple BT connections to different devices, 🙂 but the V710 cannot handle multiple connections to it. 👿

Perhaps there are two types of BT devices ... en...
