VZW MESSAGE

Just receives a text message from VZW about a Free VZW software update. Asks you to dial *228 option 2 to update the phone. Did it and it was NOT the normal PRL update as there was "SPL Unlocked OK!" then "Activation OK!" came up on the screen (this does not happen with a normal PRL update).

Now the real question... does anyone REALLY know what this update corrected? Don't want speculation, just the facts!

Not that I can tell. Talked to VZW Tech and he said that SPL shows up on some phones (more advanced) and not on others. Probably was just a normal PRL update. Never received one of these or saw SPL on my T730 but then again, my 710 is three times the phone that one was.

that message usually means they just switched a new tower very near your billing address "live" and want it added to your PRL. 🙂

Well if it is a tower switch, it was not the one I am locking on to as there has been no increase in signal strength. I have between 2-3 (my T730 only got 1-2). Just hopeing that it was the firmware update but I'm sure that we will have to come into the store for that one!

Ya but I am concerned about this and the potentail firmware update that is coming

The rumor is VZW is going to stop one from Playing MP3's on your Card and block it with the update because they want to force you to download the GETITNOW stuff and make you Pay

Read this article, the top part is the most disturbing now, I sure hope some hacks this phone soon before VZW does something like stop features via over the air disguised as a PRL update or something

If this is true I will probably leave verizon when this happens. Happily pay my early cancellation and never give verizon another penny in my lifetime.

VZW = NAZI's
