Motorola V710
mp3 for dummies
iPod has to worry about anything as yet ;-)
I have my V710, and purchase a USB SD read/writer
from Radio Shack called Dazzle. I first
formatted the card on the v710, then I plugged in the
transflash 128MB card to the read/writer
attached to my Mac running OSX.
The card appears on my desktop. I then transfer
an mp3 file which is appx 1MB into the motorola/shared/audio folder. The file name is set to test.mp3,
so it should be short enough. The file is encoded at
128 kbps fixed rate.
I then transfer the transflash card to the v710. I select
under Media Gallery->Sounds, and then my
phone freezes. I then need to close the phone,
and re-open to get out of the freeze.
I've t...

Sorry to see no-one more sophisticated than I answering your post. I probably cannot help you fix your issue. I have had my phone for about a week and while I do not really use it to play full mp3s, I have loaded and unloaded many as ringtones. The process is as straight forward you you describe. I am using windows xp (not mac) but that should not make any difference.
I have not tried to load any 1 meg files. Ringtones are much smaller.
While you are waiting for someone who understands your situation better to answer, I suggest you do a couple of searches. There have been many posts for mp3 issues. You can do an mp3 search here in ps - v710 forum and go over to HoFo and go into their Verizon - V710 temporary discussion a...

determined my issue, but will test and confirm
later today.
Apparently when transferring files to the flash
with Mac OS, some hidden files are placed on
the flash which confuse the phone. After
transferring the files to flash, I need to
use a shareware app called Filebuddy which
removes the hidden files.
thanks,
brian.
I feel the v710 is far ahead of the ipod.
Sure the ipod has more memory but I can buy that for my v710. I have 3gigs of music in my ipod and don't listen to over 75% of them, I don't see how anyone can. I don't need 15 years of music on me for one day of listening.
The v710 has 50 more features than a ipod(too many to list).
If you get the motorola headphones, the mp3 feature on the v710 is pretty good. plus calls are in stereo also.
Since I have had the v710 I haven't taken my ipod anywhere. I can't see carrying 2 mp3 players and 2 headphones. and would you leave your v710 hone to take your ipod?
