Motorola V710
Update re V710 & BMW Bluetooth
Having confirmed that the V710 is the source of the incompatibility problem with BMW bluetooth, I wrote to Motorola requesting information on when their firmware would be released and whether it would address the problems associated with the V710 interfacing with the BMW bluetooth. Motorola wrote:

The patch will address the problems associated with the V710 properly interfacing with the BMW Bluetooth and the other compatibility issues.

Thanks. I got the same thing from BMW but their bluetooth kit isn't ready yet for the 5 series, either.
