Is there any way to get free ringtones onto a v710 without using the usb data cable.
If there is no way to do that then what program would you use to get the ringotnes with a data cable.
I'm talking about real music ringtones.

This has been posted many times. Do a search. You can make your own with itunes (free download), download free 30 sec clips off of walmart and put any on your phone with TF. Search (here in PS and HoFo) for details.

The quality of the walmart ones suck.

I have several and they seem fine. I used itunes to convert them to mono (only one speaker anyway) and this cut the files size in half. The volume is a bit low but so far all of my mp3 ringers are a bit low (as in not as loud as the phone's native ringers). I tried using MP3gain to boost the gain. It helps some but if you push too far, they clip (slight distortion).

Main prob with walmart ones is that you are stuck with the 30sec section that they post. But they are free.

Of course, with itunes, you can make as many as you want on your computer from your own music collection - and that is free too.

Do you have any other mp3's on your phone or TF card like one's you ripped yourself or downloaded from some type of p2p software?
When I scoll through my list of mp3's and come across a walmart one the difference between them is dramatic.
They are about half the quality and volume of "normal" mp3's.

When I started to learn the process of itunes, I started to rip a couple of my own but the learning curve took me through a few renditions. Now I am not sure of the individual sources. I will go rip a few now and compare.

Thanks - hope my experience is as yours. I would like them louder abd better if possible.

Why are you asking this question? Is there a difference?

Using TF to move them to phone. Can they be assigned as ringers if on TF? I do not use this as an MP3 player - only for ringers. I realize I can play MP3s from TF but thought ringers must be moved to phone.

Just wondering how your getting them to the phone? Your right you can't use them as ringers on the TF card. If you are emailing them to your phone I know there is problems with most mp3 through email.
