CALENDAR REMINDER PROBLEMS!!!

Goose

Sep 29, 2004, 4:08 PM
I have been following this forum for some time and have not seen anyone else mention this problem. I now have been through 3 V710 telephones and they all have the SAME PROBLEM.
This will work in the Verizon store but after about 5-10 alerts this function ceases to function. Moto tells me to take the phone to Verizon and I do. They change the phone and it does the same thing AGAIN. Been through 3 phones so far. Is anyone else having this problem or know know to fix this problem? Thanks.

Well, let's start with you explaining the problem. I don't really know what you're asking

You know, I just looked at his name and realize I should have put a "Talk to me, Goose" at the end of my last post. I don't think I'll ever have another opportunity where that line would fit so well. I guess I blew it, but I hope this post will make up for it.

Goose talking here....the alarm on the calendar reminder is not working all the time. That's about as clear as I know how to say it. Have you tried it?

Wait... now I'm worried...

I haven't played around with the reminder function as of yet. Has anyone used the reminder function extensively??? Does it work as expected???

Thanx.

Thanks Dragonmaster for understanding the problem. I thought the "title" would tell all what the problem was. The problem with the phone is there is no "alarm" when you set up a reminder in the calendar. Please read the original message to see the problems I have encountered. It seems that no one has used this function of the phone. The ALARM function will not work at times also. There is an alarm (like a clock) and an alarm for the calendar function. These are two separate functions. Thanks again.

i have only used mine a few times. i guess you have already checked your alarm tone to make sure its not silent. 😁

Yep...checked the alarm tone. The Verizon guys checked it and went through it with the Moto guys also. These odds are overwhelming. 3 telephones doing the same thing to me ONLY. Those odds should be good enough to win the lottery.

weird, maybe it has somthing to do with your setup, like your start time or somthing. are your alarms always at the same time of day? have you tried different alarm times(5min,10min,30min)?

Yep...tried it all. That's why I went back to Verizon and let them try it to make sure I was not doing something wrong. ALL of the Verizon employees at this store have the same phone V710. Most of them had not even tried this function in their phone.

Not that bad of odds. I work for them and had 4 samsung a670 phones that wouldn't hold a charge for more than 5 hours. then i got a lg7000 and no problems. i just received the v710 tonight so when i get home from work, i'll probably be on here posting questions..

Thanks. One other thing that happened sometimes was when the alarm would not go off I could turn the phone off and then turn it back on. The alarm "that should have gone off" will show up immediately with sound when the phone is turned back on.

So is the event reminder there in the text, but just does not give an audible alert? Now we're getting somewhere.

Just so you know... with this phone and my T720, if I ignore an event reminder and then turn off the phone and turn it on the sound and event reminder message would repeat itself... bug or not that seems to be the normal operation...

But now at least I know that your event reminder is working, just the sound part of the reminder isn't working properly. The only non-bug issue I can think of would be if the way you hold your phone is prone to causing the side keys to get bumped thereby muting the ringer. Although that is unlikely. I guess I can say that with the 2-8 event reminders I have per day, all of them work proper...

Okay... I'm still not sure exactly what your problem is, but I'm going to take a stab at it... But just so you know, you're the one asking for help, you should try to be a little more clear when asking a question or for others' help.

I did read the subject of your first post, it reads "calendar reminder problems." is the alarm not sounding? I'm assuming that's the problem.

You also stated that there's a problem after 5-10 times. Is that 5-10 different alerts all in the course of a day; or is that after 5-10 days of daily repeats of one alert and on day 6 it does not work? I don't know how to duplicate the problem on my phone to help you with an answer.

here's what I would suggest:

1) Make sure your ringer in the "alarms" he...

One more thing... Why don't you post the alarm that you're setting up in your phone. then I'll set up the exact same alarm with times and repeats and everything and see if I can duplicate the bug that way.

ARGH!!! I hate that you cannot edit your own posts. I mean event, of course. I know you're not talking about the alarm function. Post the event details and I'll see if I can duplicate your problem.

There is NO SPECIFIC ones. IT'S ALL of the times and whether it's 5,10,30 minutes, etc. I discovered the problem after leaving the store and setting it up for appointments that would alarm 1hr before (usually). It did not alarm. I would then try all of the other times suspecting there was a problem and sure enough there was.

Thanks Bobaloo for working hard on this mess. Verizon guys and myself have all tried the things you suggested and still no solution. As to the frequency of when it did not work...ALL of the 3 phones worked in the store for about 10 times. I set it there along with the employees and then I noticed about 3-5 days later that the alarm did not work AGAIN. Thanks again for trying to help on this.
