If this has been asked and answered, I apologize. I cannot figure out how to disguise a mp3 as a midi file in order to send it through the vzwpix.com. I have read almost all the mp3 questions, but I dont understand how you change the file type into a midi file, any help.
And my next question is in regards to animation. I have owned the vx6000, 8900, a670 and when I send a GIF animation/wallpaper/screensaver to the phone and set it as a wallpaper it stays as animated. For some reason on the v710, when I view it in pictures it is animated, but once I set it as a wallpaper it just stays still. Am I doing something wrong or what...doesnt make any sense.? THANX ALL

can't help you with the gif. I don't know .gif files.

AS for changing mp3 to .mid - (hope you are using windows): right click on file, scroll to rename and click. Then simply type the filename.mid (keep file name short).. I do not know how to define short other than to say many have struggled with longer file names. "Keep names short" has been the advice. Mine are all under 7 characters.

so: song.mp3 >right click, rename > "song.mid" {enter}

now the reason i didn't comment was because it depends on the file. it will not work if the file is to large.. ie. more than 30 sec. Just an FYI

I have not tried it but others have said any length will work as a ringtone. emailing the file too large for for the phone's email may be another issue. I use TF so have not messed with emailing to phone. If you want to cut it down, itunes is a free download. That is what I used to cut mine down to save space on phone.

But when you say it works fine are you disguising it as a midi, or leaving it mp3?

HOLY ****, I got it. It works... I did what you said: rename-.mid, but then I also had to open it with windows media player and name it there as a .mid, next thing I know it worked. Hey guys thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it.-E 🙂

The mp3 vs mid extension actually has nothing to do with the phone. The phone will play the songs as a ringtone regardless of what you call it as long as the format is standard mp3 (not sure about maximum bit rate, but anything up to 192 kbps will definitely work. The problem is with verizons messaging system. Their system will not transmit any message attachments with .mp3 extension(There are also attachment size limitations. It will only pass through .mid files(also jpg and 3g2 video files). All others get dropped. If you use a tf card, a file with .mp3 can be copied to the phone and works just fine as a ringtone (I have done this myself and know it works). Send the same file in a message and the attachment is dropped with and error...

Do you have multimedia messaging enabled on your account. By default this is turned off. You need to call vzw customer service and let them know and they can turn it on. For some reason this has to get enabled separately from text messaging. If it is not turned on all attachments will get dropped and you will get an error message saying that you received an unsupported format. This issue is with verizon and their network setup, not the phone, because I have seen this problem with other phones too.
