Quick Question for Sponge
just got off the phone with Motorola tech support and they tell me that you cannot transfer pictures from phone to PC via Transflash. Is this true!?! They tell me I need to purchase a USB cable with a program called Mobile phone Tools 2.0. However, I am sceptical about this given the fact that Verizon seems to have disabled most of the TF functionality (not to mention nearly all of the BlueTooth functionality!). Any help in determining the best way to transfer pix (other than via email) would be much appreciated!

Granted, I am not Sponge (who is much more knowledgeable than I). I can tell you that you are getting incorrect info.
1) You can transfer pictures from phone to PC via TF and from PC to Phone via TF. I do it and it is as staright forward as can be. Save pics to card in the - shared file and put card in phone. Make sure you always turn phone OFF when inserting or removing TF card. If your pics are stored directly to TF, just put TF into adapter and then into reader and access your files. If pics are stored on Phone's memory, highlight pic in mune and click menu> move. That will move it to TF.
2) I do not know what TF functionality you think is disabled but I know of no limitations other than locked files on the phone. If you wan...

Thanks for the reply, but I've already attempted the procedure many times to no avail. I can get the Motorola folder on the PC and then I open the Shared folder and then Pictures. I even see the JPEG files in the folder. However, when I attempt to open a JPEG it seems to freeze-up. I have Windows 98 and I see that JPEG files are set to be opened via Internet Explorer. I've attempted to open Jpegs on other PC's as well with the same result. I know that the card reader is working because I have transferred many MP3's to and from the phone with no problem. I fear I may have reached a "dead-end". So any hope (or suggestions) would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say, I am out of ideas. If you do not get any more input, you might consider reposting with a different subject. Maybe something like: Win 98 TF transfer prob (pics only). And you might consider posting both here and HoFo.
If you choose to re-post, you might clarify that your issue is only for pictures and that you are successfully transfering mp3s.
There are many much more knowledgeable than I out there. I started as a nOOb and learned my way around the phone so I try to help those I can as a way of "paying it forward" but some of these erratic quirks get beyond me. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Just had one more thought for you. When you posted "freeze" I realized that I had a similar problem. I use XP (not 9😎. For some reason when I access files on the reader, if I have other windows open (even minimized) my pc freezes. I found that if I close ALL windows before accessing the card directly, I have no freeze.
I can indirectly access the card while sending files from another program to the card but to prevent freeze I must close all windows before accessing the card directly. Try this and see if it helps you. If not, I'm tapped out.

since you ARE able to view your pix on your PC via TF, can you (or anyone else reading this that can view their pix on their PC via Transflash) tell me what operating system and, more importantly, which Card Reader you are using? This way I can confirm that the problem lies somewhere else. I have a theory that some Readers may not be 100% compatible with this card.
Thanks!

Lexar media multi-card reader/writer. I have my phone set to store the images directly to TF. I use Windows XP Home.
