c|Net really hates this phone, #3 in "Products so bad they're insulting"

Anyone else read this?

http://tinyurl.com/4xhhs »

I have the phone, and I have to say it is a big improvement from the t720. I don't like the way Verizon Crippled the phone, but that aside, I have to say that it is probably the best currently on the network.

Anyone else think that they are way off base with these reviews?

But then again, down with DRM, DMCA, and the Patriot Act. 😈

The marketing of this phone has created the bad vibe and much anger at VZW.

While the phone is a really good phone, the feature set as implemented by VZW and the half-thought out way some things work due to Moto's build have created a sour impression for most owners.

I was very excited about this phone when I purchased it, looking forward to the multimedia features I THOUGHT it would provide.

I can say I've lost interest in it by now after all the spent energy and disappointment over the half *ssed way somethings work and have religated it to just being a ...cellphone. (sigh)

He is NOT dead on. As a matter of fact, that stupid article and many others WRONGLY state that the only thingf you can do with this phone via Bluetooth is headsets and that is NOT TRUE!

I am more than satisfied with this phone because the mainand ONLY reason I wanted a Bluetooth phone was to use it as a cell-modem paired either with my iPAQ 2215 or my laptop and I can.

That jerk who wrote that article totally left out that feature when nailing the phone to the cross for lack of Bluetooth options.

I could care less where it's made. The phone simply doesn't compare and that is why Verizon is basically giving the phone away as long as you sign a contract. Despite all of the issues with Bluetooth being limited, side by side the Audiovox doesn't stand up to the V710.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Just look at all the reviews compared to the 710. Well, if you don't see the light then I totally pity you. Verizon is practically giving away a fantastic phone that blows the doors off the 710. And suckers like you are paying top dollar for headaches and problems. So that doesn't really say much for the 710 owners. Your probably out of your 15 day worry free guarantee and now your stuck with the v710 and now you have the worry of owning an inferior phone. So I totally understand your frustrations

If you read the threads in this forum carefully, you will find that most of the complaints about the V710 involve features that the Audiovox does not even offer.

I have fooled around with the Audiovox and would take the V710 over that phone in an instant. In addition to having more features, including BT, the design of the V710 is sleeker and the screen crisper.

You may have a great cellphone. However, I had a great cellphone way back when I used the StarTac. I think people purchasing the V710 are looking for more cutting edge technology from the phone.

Exactly, that is why the engineers at Audiovox were smart enough and decided to leave those features out because they can see how much trouble Moto users are having. I would not spend $100 for a transflash card to put a few mp3's on a card and the blue-tooth is practically useless! Just look how funny those people look with that silly looking BT earpiece sticking out of their ear. That is embarrassing. I agree, the star tac and also the V8160 had been wonderful phones but that was the past. Yes, I actually used to be a Moto fan myself but when I got my hands on the T720, I was very unhappy with that and Verizon took that back from me 8 months later and gave me the LG-VX6000 and was happy with that phone. No, the Audiovox screen is much more...

Westsidenyc the V710 does not sport a QVGA screen as does the Cdm-990. So how can you possibly say the V710 has a crisper screen?Look at them side by side. I have and saw the difference myself. That is why the 9900 is made in Japan and not the V710. No one can get the quality that the Japanese produce. It's a fact. They are more advanced then anyone and have all the latest in electronics before anyone else.

Actually, I am doing you all a favor and trying to get you to see the light that the Audiovox blows away the V710. Junking up? I believe my friend, that it's been junked up very long before I even posted here. Great. I am happy you love your phone.

The bluetooth obviously isn't crippled as it works great with my Jabra Headset, and I am able to use DUN from my laptop and/or IPAQ to connect to the internet for mail when WiFi isn't availble.

I already had a moto USB cable ... so I can sync my contacts with Outlook to my hearts desire.

Who's talking about syncing contacts! You cannot transfer your pic's you take with the poor quality camera that the V710 sports! And I bet you must look so high tec with that Jabra the hut bluetoothless headset sticking way out of your ear. I bet your the cause of many traffic accidents 🤣

And don't tell me that it's not crippled when in fact it is. your in denial just like president Bushie!

Well my phone is much cooler then your phone! 😛 Thats what this whole argument sounds like. I dont even have the v710 and I can tell its a great phone. The only complaint that anyone has ever had is that the bluetooth isnt fully functional which it will be in the next couple of months with software upgrades. The 9900 is a great phone also but doesnt have bluetooth so it really cant be compared with the v710. As far as call quality the v710 is slightly better but not by much. I know this because I have used both phones so I am talking from personal experience. The people who bought the v710 bought it for the bluetooth. If they werent looking for bluetooth then they would have probably waited for the 9900 or just bought the vx7000 like I did....

your so childish! 😛 This is not my moto is cooler than your Audiovox forum either. In fact the 9900 has a much better looking screen. How can you get everyone's hopes up starting rumors saying that Moto plans to release a software upgrade when in fact Moto is not even planing on producing a desktop charger for the V710. HA! I have my right to say whatever I want. So there 😛 🤣 Right, Audiovox was smart enough not to make a crippled bluetoothless feature into their marvel of a design. Thanks to the Japanese engineers who made this wonderful phone. The sound quality is better on the 9900 so who are you fooling? So is the talk and standby times.

NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR 9900. If they did then we would all be in the 9900 forum. Everything that someone says to this forum you say "HAHA YOUR STUPID, YOUR PHONE IS STUPID, GET A 9900!!" People got the phone to use the wireless headsets, wireless modem capability. If the 9900 could do that then yes you would have an argument between the 2 phones. But since it cant, then you cant compare the 2 phones other then call quality and camera quality. Even if the camera and call quality were better in the 9900 you still cant use bluetooth headsets or use it as a wireless modem on notebooks and PDAs. So, seriously, stop acting so childish. No one cares that the 9900 is better in your opinion.

LOL! Oh I see you getting a bit frustrated eh? You think I want to walk around wearing a stupid looking headset like you? lol No the camera quality is not better on the V710. Who would want such a slow INTERNET connection using a bluetoothless phone as a modem? The 9900 can connect to a laptop using a fully functioning cable with NO PROBLEMS. Audiovox was smart. So there stop acting childish yourself 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

The problem is that all V710 ers are in the 9900 forum and getting upset cause they wish they had purchased the 9900 instead. And people like you try using the bluetoothless as a as a leg to stand on knowing very well that it is crippled. Well, pal, soon you'll be in a wheelchair cause it's just going to get more crippled 🤣

Is the car analogy clear enough.
Before this phone came out I wanted it.
After it came out, I kept reading these forums, and Im glad I never got it, still have my old LG vx6000.
Verizon sold a phone that similar models on other carriers dont scum you on. So you pay 200 or 400 for a phone that is very limited by Verizon, but can do so much more. The only saving grace of this phone will be when they get a hacked firmware distributed for it that opens this phone up for more BT functionality.
I agree totally with the CNET review on this phone, bashing it.
Verizon may have a good coverage network, but man oh man are they greedy $$$ SOB's .

(yes, of course I still want the v710, but will get it later when the price comes down)
