Ok, so I have some "videos" that I have downloaded on my computer and I want to move them to my phone. I downloaded some video converter that converts them to the 3gp format needed to play on the v710. So I did that but when I go to play them on the phone they play at like .5 frame per second. Its really slow. They play fine on the computer and other 3gp videos that I download from fotobin.com play fine as well. Are there certain settings that need to be set when converting to 3gp such as frame rate and things like that? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated... 😳

Did you use 'AVS Video Converter 3.3' to do the conversion? I download it last night, but haven't installed it yet. If that's your converter I'll install it and give it a shot and report back on my success or lack of success. I've been successfully playing the 'fotobin' stuff too.

I dloaded some program from download.com. Just type in 3gp and itll bring up like 6 or 7 programs...I think I dloaded the last one...What is everyone else using?

Sorry -- my mistake on the AVS converter. It can convert 'from' 3g2 formats to another, but not 'to' a 3g2 format!

uNt0uChAbLe -- I downloaded one of the encoders from the list that you specified (the one that I picked was 'IMToo MPEG Encoder' -- and I had the same experience that you had. Choppy sound, and very intermittant and slow video.
The one thing that I noticed was that the file extension that results using this encoder is .3gp rather than .3g2 I renamed the file to a .3g2 extension with the same result. I'll keep playing and check back in later. I could also play the resulting files using Quicktime, on my PC. Not very good quality, even though the quality was quite good before re-encoding to .3gp
...
Yeah thats the one I used too. The quality was not very good on my PC but it was good on the phone which is all I really care about. I just want to get them to play. But yeah, shoot back later if you figure out something. I was playing around with the frame rate but it wasnt really doing anything...Thanks for the response and Ill also repost of I figure out anything... 😳

It looks like Verizon endorses Quicktime, if you look at the Apple Quicktime site. http://www.apple.com/mpeg4/3gpp/
'Quicktime Pro' allows you to export .3g files, unfortunately you can't do that with the Quicktime freebie! An upgrade to Pro is $30, but I'm tempted to give it a try.

I've got Quicktime Pro, and my TF card is comming today. I'll try it before you waste your money on software...hehe

Thats what WinMX, Kazaa, and eDonkey are for 😉

There nice, but nothing beats Usenet news servers
...
Nokia Multimedia Converter is free if you register and in my opinion has less bugs then Quicktime.
I dont mean to sound ignorant but can you tell me how usenet works?
...
Not buggy for me.
QuickTime is your better bet as the file size is smaller on the final .3gp movie.
...
go to usenetserver.com, sign up, trust me, its a steal.
go to newzbin.com and sign up, its worth it also,
get a news reader that imports .nzb files from newzbin.com

Is there a way to make codecs work with quicktime? On my pc Nokia MM can open all my video files but Quictime can hardly open any.
...
Run the updater and also update the 3rd party items. I can open any files with QT (audio and video), are you on a Mac or PC?
...
I'm fully updated. What do you mean by the 3rd party items?
...
It says the Quicktime Player lacks the necessary software to play the file (an avi). And it can find it on the quicktime server.
...
On the mac version you get the option to download codecs, I cant check this as I dont have a PC here (home) you cand send me the file to test if you like.
