Weird Picture Size

I took 2 pics one after the other without changing the settings. One was crap at 17kb the other was decent at 265kn. I don't get why the phone took a 17kb crap quality shot.

Was one better quality? The phone may have been unfocussed, recieved less light than the other picture, had less colors in the picture.. all these things affect the size of a picture.
