Just got off the phone with Verizon Tech support (611). They knew about the problems with the phone and I asked them about the new firmware. They told me to go to my local verizon store and get it done - should take about 10 mins. Verified the the tech guy that the new firmware was 8700_01.38.52. They said that the firmware is out to the public. I also asked him about OTA programming and he said that they couldn't do it yet. I'm on my way to Verizon right now and see what happens, I will keep you all informed as soon as I get back

yea, tell me about it i WAS THE ONE THAT origianlly posted that it was out, but i guess disregard all that, cause I just got back from Verizon and the tech reflashed my phone with the newest firmware and guess what its till the same version s/w as I had before. He contacted the Verzion people in Atlanta, and they told him that nothing was out yet. I was mad because when I called verizons 800 # they told me that the new firmware was out. So After I found out that the store didnt have the firmware I called Verion Tech Support..611 and they said that it wasn't out yet, and to call motorola. Verizon really has some issues with they're employees. I sich and tired of it.

according to motorola and verizon who i spoke to today, said " the update was supposed to be avalible last week but it was delayed". They also said " aslong a there are no more delays it should be avalible the last week in Nov" 😕 .
Now i've been checking on this for weeks and today was the first time that motorola, verizon *611 and the verizon store by my work all had the same story. So hopefully this is the last waiting period we have to endure.

I feel your pian i just posed this over on hofo where a guy cliams to have gotten the update ota

Last week I called verizon to add an additional line and in the course of the conversation I asked the tech if he knew anything about the flash update and he looked it up on his computer and to my surprise he told me that the update was available at my local store. I grabed my shoes and coat and keys - kissed my wife and kids good bye and rushed out the door -- my wife cuaght me in the driveway and ever the voice of reason she asked "have you called the store to check with them?" I am about and hour from the store. I called the store and they had heard nothing about it. They checked every source of info they had. Nope no luck sorry they said ...

This is the version a guy on Hofo claims to have. So the tech either used that number or you did. Either way, it is wrong. The update won't be out until mid December now based on reports at wireless advisor by people who know.

100% Verizon's delay, Moto turned the update over in September.

As of 1:55pm 11/12 In Michigan, The Firmware Upgrade (according to 611 [who knows so little]) is not available. But thanks guys, ive now called verizon like 5x because someone thinks it may be out, and it isnt. Perhaps we could limit to the NEW FIRMWARE UPGRADE AVAILABLE talk until AFTER you get the upgrade... is that crazy? On a lighter note, anyone know when the Kyocera Koi is coming out? Or another Verizon Bluetooth Phone (not palm). HOWEVER the verizon rep i spoke to told me there was an upgrade through a company called Eudora, has anyone heard of this? this has nothing to do with Verizon and they know nothing about it. I Guess its an email client... and you know as soon as you call verizon back they know nothing about it... dam verizon....

Eudora was/is mail software. It was a popular alternative several years ago. Could do POP mail off your ISP and IMAP. That was all PC software though.

A little fun fact for you..

Eudora was named after one of the greatest writers/photographers of all time: Eudora Welty. She spent much of her life writing/photographing the opressive lives of the lower class in Mississippi.

Sorry, I just happened to remember this from last semester when I wrote a 15 page paper on her 🙂
