Transflash Cards

I will be purchasing the V710 in about a month and I have seen many threads regarding the Transflash Card. Couple of questions since I really don't know what it is.
1. What is it used for?
2. Are there any other items needed to get the full functionality of the card (cables, software, etc....), and if so, any links would be helpful.
3. Is it really worth purchasing?

The transflash card is used for storing data, think of it as a floppy disk or a memory card. If you plan on copying MP3s from your computer to your phone, get a transflash card but make sure your computer has a reader for it. Is it worth purchasing? It depends... if you don't mind downloading ringtones from get it now or paying $0.25 for every picture message to your phone then it might not be worth it, but if you want to get around it-- then it might be worth it.

I am planning on buying the V710 over the v265 just because of the transflash. I'm a big camera user and it would be cheaper in the long run, and I also will probably use it to download mp3s to my phone to listen to. As far as connectivity goes, it comes with an SD card adapter so it fits into the regular SD memory card slot. You put the transflash into the adapter and the adapter into your reader. Very basic plug-n-play we're talking about. Also, depending on your computer's operating system, I'm speaking from a Windows XP point of view, but all I have to do with my current SD cards is plug it into my reader and it brings up my files and its just drag and drop. my biggest concern is the price of the cards, those things are not cheap, ...

So essentially, I can take a photo on my digital camera (Nikon) and somehow get it to my V710 using the card reader and not pay .25 cents?

That is correct. Actually, a lot of my pictures on my phone were transfered from my digital camera or websites onto my TF card, very few were actually taken with the v710.
