I'm about to order the V710 to replace my new V265 which replaced my old T720 which replaced my older Time Port (I know, I like my Motos).

No need to stop you. The v710 has bluetooth to allow you to use a wireless headset and use it as a modem for a PDA or laptop. Excellent speakerphone, voice dialing is the best I have ever seen...The camera does suck though...The screen is big and very clear...Id say go for it if you think it will do what you are looking for...Dont listen to the people that bought it just so they could bitch and complain about it...Go play with it in a store and see for yourself...You could always use the 15 day worry free guarantee... 😳

If you want it for the Blue tooth don't do it!

You can get a better PHONE for cheaper.

Look at the postings. The phone has many problems for the price and Verizon Customer service is horrible.

I'm with catside, if you want bluetooth to transfer data it won't work, but if you know the difference between bluetooth and OBEX and are happy with a bluetooth headset, are going to use it for DUN, want to use a TF card, or any combination of them... then it is a great phone. Reception is very good, very user friendly for the most part, and unlike most people on this forum I have actually had very good experience with Verizon CS.

Unlike your old Motorola T720 you need to connect to the system to set your clock.

You will not know the time and neither will the new Motorola phones if you out of the service area!

Also while you can enter stuff in your DateBook, -- Reminders, & Alarms, WILL NOT WORK.

That means if you have programmed in your datebook an appointment, your v710 WILL NOT REMIND you!!!

Both Motorola and Verizon employees confirmed that the newer phones will not have a built in clock the continues to function outside the cellular system.

I stopped at the local Verizon store yesterday to have them show me how to set the date and time and the guy could not.

Then another guy said you need to have the system set your phone and confirmed that the phone does not know the time unless in a service area.

Motorola customer service only confirmed that the phone relied on the system to function. Without the system no date and time.

We did not discuss any v710 versions. Sorry.

I can say that there have been just a couple of times where I have not had any service but the clock and date did work. Can't confirm the alarms/schedules though but have not had any problems with the clock or date.

I just got my 710 yesterday so I'm still discovering things but it seems to me that you can solve this by turning autoupdate off and set the date and time manually under "initial setup." I haven't hit an area yet without coverage so I don't know if this solves the problem or not.
