Motorola V710
Lexus/bluetooth/firmware/software upgrade
I purchased one over a month ago, but returned it because bluetooth capability was not up to par with my Lexus (no signal strength meter, no imcoming audible ring, and no way to download the phonebook into the lexus).
Can anyone here tell me if these issues have been resolved at all??
I relly liked the phone, but bought it for bluetooth to work with the lexus more than anything else.

If you are in an area where you can live without Verizon, you should switch to another carrier, and demand a release form your contract and a refund on the phone.
At&T, Cingular, Sprint have the usual Bluetooth configuration that you need for your car, for a safe, hands-free operation.
Also, (and this is key according to motorola), Verizon MUST enable bluetooth functions on the phone themselves!! In other words...both motorola and verizon need to come out with a fix to solve this issue. One fix, without the other, will not solve this problem.
This does not seem very good.
If anyone is interested in speaking to the person I did, the phone number is 877-331-6456, and his ID number is 2791. He is very aware of these issues.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your recent correspondence with Motorola.
As per your reply, Motorola is developing a firmware upgrade at carrier's request that will restore the OBEX profile on the V710. It is scheduled to be released in November for Verizon customers. However, this quoted timeframe is not meant to be construed as a guarantee.
For further information, please contact your service provider in order to check the status of availability.

On a bluetooth sidenote, you can see what profiles a device is "qualified" for by checking the BQB's (Bluetooth Qualification Body) website at http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/Template2.cfm?Li nkQualified=QualifiedProducts. I am assuming that Motorola would have to requalify/recertify their phone if they added support for another profile.
It sounds like OBEX will be enabled and OPP will not, from talking to Moto today.
Can you confirm that?

Does anyone know EXACTLY why the V710 will not download its phonebook into the Lexus, and why there is no audible ring, and why there is no signal strength meter??? Is it because of OBEX, or something else???
When the car tries to grab the phonebook from the handset, the missing OBEX profile corrupts the phone and/ or the BT connection, depending on what model car you have.
Most of the VZW techs in this forum will tell you the phone is fine and you should return the car.
Last time I called moto, he said that it would be quite a long time for any updates to come out, because both them and VZW would have to issue it.....and the probelm he told me there is VZW. But moto did say that there was no ready fix by them either.
Enter this as the question:
I need a CDMA V710 phone that works on the Verizon network like the bluetooth of the V600, including the OBEX profile, to synch with my car.
They will assign an incident number and a response within 24 hours. Here was my last response:
