My interest in the v710 is relatively new. I upgraded 10 days ago from a T720 to a Audiovox 9900. I have since decided that I want the v710 for its bluetooth capabilities, memory card, etc.

I understand that the v710 was recalled a couple of weeks ago due to the camera being off centered (or something like that). The phone then began to appear in my local Verizon retail stores late last week. The first store I called told me they sold out quickly. The second and third stores I called told me that they got them back in but were told to pull them due to defects. They did not tell me what the issue was. As this was on Saturday, I was unable to get a formal response from Verizon corporate. However, not one of the 4 Verizon retail stores in...

Please forgive the typo in my original message subject. Obviously, I'm referring to the v710 - not v1710!

We've heard of a second recall on this forum in the last day or two. Don't know about the truth of that.

If you really need Bluetooth, be advised that the functionality is limited, and not like that of other vendors, at least at this point. Plow through all of the previous posts and you'll see what I mean.

If I were you, I'd try to get Verine to extend your 15 day trial period, IN WRITING, and try to hold out until all of the issues are resolved -- assuming that this will eventually happen. This really is a great phone -- but you should be aware of its present shortcomings before you jump in.

I did get an extension to the trial period in writing and noted on the account.

As for the bluetooth, I have heard and read many times about the bluetooth being limited. I don't know how true that is as I have also verified that a) you can create your own ringtones and transfer them using the cable, b) the phone supports SyncML - SyncML is a standard for synchronizing personal organizer data between different devices. Such data includes contacts, to-do lists, and schedules. Devices might be phones, handhelds, PCs, or even services, such as web sites. SyncML provides an XML-based standard format for this data, that all SyncML-compatible devices can understand. It can work over various types of connections, including Wireless Internet, Blue...

From what I gather everything that you've said is true -- except that SyncML only works with a cable, not Bluetooth with this phone in it's present state ---- and I don't know of anyone here that's been able to do a file transfer via Bluetooth, directly to their PC. I can see the phone from the PC, and vice versa, but that's it.

I've camped out here for 2 1/2 months waiting for word on if and when that will happen. And -- yup, I've got to get a life!
