I emailed a midi ringtone to my v710. It will play in the media gallery. I click apply as ringtone and it appears as the call ringtone. when I try to call my cell it makes no noise but says "home calling". Any advice?

make sure your volume is up.also go back to your setup to make sure you have your midi chosen as ringtone. 😁

Volume is up. any other ringtone will work fine, just not the one I want. Shows as ringtone for incoming calls. Just won't make noise.

Yes. Main menu - 6 - 3 - flintphone - play will play the ringtone. apply as ringtone and it won't play when phone is called. Took it to several verizon people and they are stumped. Very fustrating.

??????? you could try several things, probably none will work.try the power cycle by removing your battery for several min. try setting the midi as tone for voicemail, then send yourself a voicemail to see if it works.if it still don't work it may be a bad file(a little over my head).last resort i would try to downlaod the midi again, call customer support and they will take off the extra charge.if you do download again it would probably be a good idea to delete the "bad" midi before downloading again.good luck 😁

Tried as ring for the inbox and sent message. Still no noise. The ringtone was a wave and I changed it to midi on itunes. Works as sound but not as ringtone. Really wanted my cell to sound like Flints hotline - or austin powers car phone if you're a youngster. Thanks for taking the time to try to help.

Waves don't work -- and midi's don't work. Only mp3's will work in this phone.

The ONLY reason midi is even discussed, is because mp3's are disquised as midi's -- so that they can be sent using Verizons Pix Place messaging service.

Once you're in Pix Place you select CREATE and then go on to prepare your file to send.

Here's the deal --- you take your xxx.mp3 file and 'rename' it to xxx.mid --- you don't actually convert the file. This renamed file is what you send to the phone. Verizon will only allow you to send .mid's and NOT mp3's (using Pix Place) so you're just scamming their system! Your phone never looks at the file extension -- so when you go to play the file, it plays just like the mp3 that it really is!

That's all the...

I download a short piece from walmart and sent that as a midi. It works. I looked at the details of both files. The one that I had trouble with didn't show a bit rate. It does on itunes, but not on my phone.

That is complete and utter nonsense. I play REAL midi files (which I created myself) all the time -- no sweat.

Dave:

I have a piano with a PianoDisk MIDI player. There is more than one type of MIDI, (1 and 0, I think) maybe that is the problem.

You ought to tell Visioneer where he can get your files and see if that's it. I know the piano only plays one type, but I don't know much about ringtones.

Ah, so! That never occurred to me. I create my own MIDI files with Mozart v7 (available from www.mozart.co.uk in a free trial version). They work fine -- not sure what type. The Mozart doc says they are "...a standard MIDI format."

Okay, here we go... Visioneer, if you are there, go to this link:

Click on "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.MID"

I used that for a ringtone during the Christmas season... see if it works for you. Maybe wnrussell has something there.......
