Swithching a Verizon phone to Alltel

I am thinking of getting a V710 of Ebay. Almost all of them are setup for Verizon. I use Alltel. I know Alltel uses V710s. Will Alltel have any problems swithing a Verizon phone to it's own. I know the phone will have Verizon markings on it but new faceplates should take care of that. Would the phone have Verizon startup screens or would Alltel convert those also?

Ok. Thanks for the info. Thought they could reprogram it (flash it).

There is a way it can be done. I have seen a v120 from Verizon used on Alltel networks. My advice would be to post this in the Alltel forum or just go into a store and talk to them.

Transfered a V60 from VZW to Alltel no problem. Just called Alltel and told them what I had, did a reprogram (manual) for SID and bingo, it worked. Still "says" VZW on display but who cares.

I have tried to convert numerous V60 phones from Alltel to VZW and all seemed ok except for Alltel still displayed on the screen, but there is one major problem. There is no way to convert all of the programing on the phone. I was successful in flashing the VZW software to the phone but the PRL would not take either by flashing or by OTA. This will cause the phone to say that it is roaming when it is not or worse say that it is not roaming when it is, this could make for a very unpleasant billing experience. So my suggestion is to stay away from VZW phones if you have Alltel, and stay away from Alltel phones if you use VZW. It just creates a big mess that will have some bad side effects.
