I'm looking for a new cell phone for christmas, and I have been researching for months on the right phone i should purchase...I am sick of waiting for the LG VX 8000 to come out, so I need na honest opinion from the v710 owners. Do you think it is a good buy considering all the features?? And I dont want to hear it is a terrible phone and it sucks at everything because it has to have more better qualties than bad...Also how are the mp3's on this cell phone??? Thanks for your help!!

I love mine. I am on US Cellular though. Not Verizon. Anyway, it is a great phone and really exceeded my expectations. And even the camera, seems better than I thought it would. Great reception, great features, integrated bluetooth, that seems to do everything except OBEX transfers, however according to the Motorola web site documentation that I saw last night, it wasn't designed for OBEX transfers. But I was able to connect it to my computer over BT and transfer via Motorola Phone Tools. I love the mp3 ringtones. They sound great. The voice dialing is better than any phone I have had. It is a great phone. I like it much better then my LG vx6000. Much better reception and better features.

Hope that helps.

great phone, have it with verizon.

if you are going to use bluetooth options, im the wrong person to ask, ive never used them.

besides that, the camera is fine, not horrible...and everything else is real good:

reception - the best
speakerphone - loud, clear
screen size - big and clear
battery - lasts a couple days (ext battery is REAL good)
file transfer (if u have tf card/reader) is very quick and easy. (pictures/mp3s)
mp3 player plays good for a phone.

plus its more stylish than any other phone that verizon has out.

some people complain about the size, but i actually have the extended battery which makes it even bigger, and im happy with mine. if you are definitly going verizon, i wouldnt recommend any other phone over...

Sweet phone, but not if you are a tech freak as I am. I have had the phone for less than a week and I am bored of it already. I am considering taking it back to Verizon and going with the V3, which is only available with Cingular. I want all the BT features to be enabled, and I do not see that happening with this phone. If you are looking for an easy phone to use that looks great and has great reception, this is for you.

Go with Cingular. Verizon's lack of committment has been horrible. They really ought to just sell plain vanilla StarTac phones or whatever, to people who only think they need voice.

Ask me 2 years ago if I thought that Verizon would limit the functionality of a handset, ...

Agreed!!!! And frankly when my 1 year contacis up it is probally going to be by-by to Verizon.
(I've have flashed the phone with the SD update and it is much better... but it still lacks OBEX. Still though... it is worlds better than it was.)

As you said... I should have to be trying to fix my phone!!!! Just wait.... they better hope I don't have to take mine back for service... I'm not going to reflash the dame thing... I'm planning on telling them that what software I run on my phone is my business, not theirs. (I know that won't get me anything but frankly I would not care either.)

The only way I will be staying with Verizon would be for them to offer the new V3 or something similar with full Blue tooth!!! And even then they had...
