Motorola V710

I have a transflash card and use it for mp3s etc.. however, any picture i try to put on the phone says it is too large to open. Is there any way to cut down the size of a picture so it can open. Also, does anyone know what the limit is for the size of picture it can handle? Any help greatly appreciated.
