Possible fix for issues with firmware update
I found this on another forum, he said it worked. I personally flashed 3 phones with the 02 SD firmware and have had no problems with any phone, so I can't try this to see if it helps those with problems, but for those who did have problems after flashing your phone, try this:
The basic problem people are having with the Verzon official release and the SuperDave version is sound quality for people you are talking to and battery life.
I upgraded to the SD version and everyone complained they could not understand me and battery life was lousy. I then flashed to the verizon version and still no go.
Solution:
Backup phone # etc, from phone.
Flash to new Verizon firmware
Remove battery for 30 seconds
Menu->Tools->Initial Setup->...
