Verizon vmail password help

New to this forum, so sorry in advance if this question has been answered in the past! I used to be able to change the voicemail callback number (on my old T720) to include a "wait" and then send my password when prompted; that is, xxxxxxxxxxw{password}. This stopped working a few months back, and now doesn't work either on my new V710 -- if I call voicemail from the vmail prompt I have to fatfinger in the password. I can still put the callback number with password into a memory location (e.g. speed dial 1), and that works great, but I have to get out of the voicemail prompt menu to do that. Irritating. It is hard to understand why Verizon changed its software (I'm assuming it did) to force a *86 callback or something similar no matter what ...

You can do this with the v710. Just dial the number as follows:

xxxxxxxpyyyy

x is your phone number (or *86) and y is your password. To get the pause (p) in there, press and HOLD the * key. You can select from p=pause, w=wait, or n=number.

I was wondering why it didn't work the way he posted it.... I think you may be right... it may be related to the area you are in... at least I guess.

I think I might have came up with the reason for the differance.... I think it might be in the lenth of voicemail greeting.... I didn't think mine was that long but maybe it is... becasue the first # simply skips the greeting.

All -- thanx for the help. Unfortunately, none of these proposed fixes works. Entering *86p{pword}# or xxxxxxxxxxp{pword}#, or putting a w instead of a pause character, all works fine if I'm speed dialing into vmail. However, when I get a prompt that I have voice mail, and a soft key prompt to call the voicemail number (presumably) stored in the voicemail no. slot (accessed via "Message Settings" in the messages menu on a V710), then I must enter the password by hand no matter what I store into that slot. On the Howard forum there was a suggestion to insert a +1xxxxxxxxxxp{pword} into that slot, but there seemingly is no way to enter a "+" sign; the only text entry mode allowed when altering the vmail no. slot is numeric. Must be a local thi...
