Get a transFlash card and a flash memory reader that can handle SecureDigital (SD) flash memory.

What kind of flash memory does your IPAQ use? I have an old HP Jornada, and I can read/write the transflash card with it, but I have to put the transflash's SD adapter into a CF adapter. Kinda clunky but it works. If your IPAQ uses SD, it would be a bit easier. The important thing is that the IPAQ doesn't clobber the v710 format. My Jornada just makes a "My Documents" folder on the card, and it works just fine.
