charging via your USB cable/port

I bought a USB cable, the standard MOT one, to use for syncing. However, I was also informed that it should charge the phone. When I first got the phone, I believe I saw it say charging when I plugged it into my computer, but now it doesn't.
Is this cable supposed to charge the phone, and if not, is there a solution for this? I ran out of juice today and it was not fun.

I'm not yet ready to get another battery, as if I did, I'd want some sort of desktop charger with an extra charging bay for the battery, like my old startac desktop charger.

Do they have that for this phone?

Anyone know?

There is a port on the side of the Moto cable to plug your charger in. 🙂

Righto....not to mention that since there is no USB provided power, it actually drains the battery quicker 😁

Looking at the cable where it plugs into the phone and the phone facing you.... it should be on the left side.

Make sure to look for it.... hell... I owned the cable for 2+ years... even before I got the V710 and didn't realized it even had a charge port on the cable untill I started reading this forum!!!! 😳

look for it...?
guys, its a cable. there's nothing to look for. Even ignoring the fact that I have perfect vision, the sides of the cable plug are smooth. There is no port to plug the normal charger in.

You have a different cable than I do. Mine is the SKN6311 which does have the power connection port. Unfortunately the AAKN4011A does not have that feature. Here's a couple of links showing the two cables.

Maybe you could take yours back and get the 6311?

Oh well. I bought it off ebay a few months ago, so its not going back I suppose.
Plus, I'm dissapointed anyway that you'd need the AC adapter anyway. Can't they figure out that we'd want to charge over USB?
I know there are aftermarket things you can buy for this...but I'd like it to be all-in-one, and from the vendor...ya know?

thanks for replying...

For the 6311 via your link, the V710 isn't listed as being compatible...but yours works I'm assuming (duh) so is it just not listed there for some reason but it is made for this phone?

Thanks.

Yes it is compatible with the v710. That link was just the first one I could find when trying to answer a question. The 6311 was available before the v710 came out and they just haven't updated their web site.

You have the one supplied by Verizon -- same one I have. Yer right, there's no way to plug in the power.
