Help me replace my damaged V710

My V710 got damaged falling off my waist when the Verizon belt clip broke. They take no responsibility and I have no insurance. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement without a new contract? I could take a phone without a battery, back, manuals, charger since I have these. Funny thing is the phone makes and receives calls and would be eligible for insurance against further loss or damage but is ineligible for this unless it is newly activated and I don't need another account. Buy.com sells the phone for free after rebates with a new contract and it almost makes sense for me to get a new phone contract and pay a $175 early termination fee on my existing contract. New phones on ebay sell for about $325. Any thoughts?

If you cancel your service on a new contract, you won't get any of the rebates that make it so cheap, so you'd be buying the phone for $300, sending away for the $300 in rebates, and then you pay $175 for the ETF.

6 Months later you will get letters from all those you submitted the rebates to saying "sorry, you canceled your account"

Now you have a $475 v710.

I could cancel my current phone account and pay the $175 on that immediately and the $300 for the new phone but get back that $300 in six months with continued activation so I would only be out the $175.

What is damaged on your phone "flip broke, display cracked, etc...". If you take it to a VZW store with technicians They should be able to repair it for much less than $175, $300 or what ever you would end up paying. Post a detailed description of what is wrong or email me at phone_tech@hotmail.com and I will tell you if it is worth getting fixed. If you E-Mail me your phone number I may be able to assist you in your repair efforts. 🙂

The inner LCD and outer LCDs are cracked, the camera lens is cracked and bezel dented, the red moisture indicator has changed color but the phone otherwise works fine (keypad, bluetooth, makes and receives phone calls). The battery life is much poorer than it was before but that should be under warranty too and it may have to do with more energy used with a cracked LCD. I had Verizon send me a replacement phone to remedy the camera re-call so I know they have these phones but the best they offered me when I called was $50 off $420 +tax. When I called back and asked about getting insurance against loss or damage, they placed a call to the phone and confirmed it worked. Ten days later I got a letter from them saying the phone was ineligibl...

Send me an email with your cell number and city, state where you live and I'll see what I can do for you. I can check the notes on your account and see what is avaliable to you.

Here a couple of suggestions that may be cheaper:

1. If it is just cosmetic damage then maybe a cell-skin would cover the damage. Or you might consider a trying to install one of the faceplate kits.

2. Contact Moto directly about repairs. I contacted them a couple of years ago and they said that damage from dropping the product is not covered by warranty but they would reapir for $100.

Don't know if this would help, but I dropped my phone in the dog's dish, but had insurance. The phone still worked, I just figured that since I had insurance, I might as well replace it. The warranty is void because it got wet. There is a ding on the ring around the camera lens.
