DORMANT V710

Sometimes lately when I open up the phone, instead of VERIZON WIRELESS it says DORMANT. I hit the END key and it will say something like MUST USE PC TO END DATA SESSION.

I go to PREFS and NETWORK and dial out using my Tungsten T. It won't connect, but when I hit cancel BTTOGGLE will anounce that BLUETOOTH is OFF and VERIZON WIRELESS appears back on the main screen.

It doesn't appear to be online (using minutes) and text messaging and voice mails still come through.

I'm just curious if anyone knows what that means or does or if I should be concerned.

I have a reflashed (1.40 OR) F/W with the crooked camera.

I have see that when I connect my Dell Axim PDA to the phone via bluetooth to surf the web or get mail.

When you establish a DUN (dial up networking) connection to the phone via bluetooth the phone says Packet Data to indicate it is being used as a modem. If I stop surfing for a few minutes the Packet Data changes to Dormant. When you start surfing (transmitting data) it goes back to Packet Data.

Not sure why you would see that at all if you're not using the phone for a data connection.

I am using it for DUN with my PDA. The thing is I shut the PDA off and put it back in my pocket, and when I open up the phone later it says DORMANT. The DUN profile on the PDA times out after 3 minutes...

Well when I am done surfing, I always go back to the Bluetooth manager and disconnect.

Are you doing that or just hitting the power button on the PDA?

Sometimes I just throw it back in my pocket (and it turns off in 2 minutes) Other times I will shut it off. AGENDUS MAIL is set to disconnect after a send/receive. The other programs I use AIM for Palm and WEB PRO I disconnect from PREFS/NETWORK
