Any improvement?

I've heard that the initial problems with the V710 have, for the most part, been rectified and that this phone now has far fewer problems than it did initially. Can anyone confirm or deny that? I've been told that I should consider purchasing this phone.

I wouldn't stay that... The upgrade breaks/takes away more things than it fixes:

Bluetooth connectivity with cars has not improved. The phone will still not cause the car to ring, you still can't access or transfer the phonebook, but now the phone itself will ring.

Beware that you will no longer be able to load ringtones without paying Verizon $.99. And if you've been using a portal other than Verizon for the mobile web, forget it. They have locked that functionality down so you can no longer access alternate profiles.

Beware of the loss of configuration. They always warn you that they may lose your phone book and calendar, but they don't tell you that every other scrap of configuration will be lost. All bluetooth profiles, we...

of course everything you mentioned can easily be fixed back. That and the new firmware actually makes the phone function much much better in many aspects.

The upgrade far surpasses that of the original. I've got free pix messening, free internet, transflash transfers back and forth, camera exposure settings, video quality settings, much quicker boot up/down times, camera is much better. That's my take 😁

Must agree. had the new firmware flashed on my phone, corrected some seems and now I really love my phone. Camera works great, tons of ring tones throuhg the memory card video/ pic messaging. Awsome
...
