trouble with mp3's on my V710

I've managed to transfer some ringtones to my v710 via the TF card, but they don't play correctly ... they sound like they're stuck skipping over the first fraction of a second. When I play the file from the TF card on my computer, it sounds fine.

Is there some particular format/frequency that the mp3 has to be to work on the phone? I tried making it smaller and converting it to mono, but that did not help.

thanks

P.S. forgot to mention - if I send the mp3 to my phone using the funformobile.com website, it changes the file type from .mp3 to .mid, and then the file works fine (but if I change the filetype myself and then transfer it with the TF card, it still skips). So I can just use the website, but I'd rather be able to transfer multiple files to the card and do it all at once.
