Here's a cut and paste of an email I received from Motorola today...any validity to this (I haven't tested yet...)?

The v710 phone that includes the OBEX profile, is the one that has this software version 8700.01.40.8F , you have to make sure that when you purchase the phone, it has this software version, the previous version which is 8700.01.30.8F DOES NOT include the OBEX.

the I think it has part truth to it.. the phone does not have OBEX in it however using DUN profile and the new flash you are able to use motorola Phone tools to sync your address book and calandar via bluetooth.. which is technically a Data transfer.. so thats probably what the rep was talking about... but no its not OBEX

That's wrong. The 1.40 f/w has the OPP profile which the 1.30 did not, but it does not have OBEX.
Motorola did not make any V710's for sale with OBEX. You can go to the black market, or to Wireless Imports and offer to pay thousands $$ and still it is not available. Not from USCC, Alltel, South Korea, Japan. Motorola did not ship any with OBEX and Bluetooth SIG did not Qualify the device for that profile.
Any reports of OBEX on V710 are a hoax.

whom ever wrote this doesn't have the f/w versions right the newest update should end with .40R
there is no obex for the v710 (there are ways to approach obex with some manipulation and hacking using the opp profile)
it is possible to get this phone to transfer any file to / from the transflash card and it is possible to get this phone to transfer any file to /from your computer to the phone/tf card using bluetooth and motorola phone tools
