I was just talking to our Verizon rep at work, and she said that they were planning on releasing the phone in 2nd quarter 2003. That is the only definite quote I've found from anyone, so Im really hoping that it happens. Otherwise, I'll have to get Verizon by August anyway, and then try to bribe someone to do an ESN switch for me when it finally does come out. 😛

You can do an ESN switch on Verizon's website by yourself you know... 🙂 Just log into "My Account" and go to the activation section. Then you would just dial *228 on your new phone and select option 1.

I know how to do that, but then i have to go pay for the non-activation fee for getting a phone w/o and account. Thats the difficult part. The ESN change is easy. I can do that myself at work.

Definitely April-May, assuming it passes quality control. Testing on Motorolas have become very scrutinous due to the lemons they have presented to Verizon in the recent past. Expect many new handsets to be available in 2004 with the deployment of 1x-rtt.

Riddle me this,

ok I just had to say that lol.

But anyways, is this something you read from another forum, or has an inside source told you that the moto v710 will be coming out april-may 2004? I am asking because the Moto v810 hasn't even come out yet, nor the audiovox9900, and lgvx7000. so how like would this phone come out at the same time or before these other phones?

lg 7000 currently in testing and it is SWEEEEEEEET! (almost ready, info slicks have already hit local retail stores), Audiovox 9950 in testing and looks promising for a release in May. if i gave away my secrets, then they wouldn't be ... with nationwide deployment of 1x-rtt and the att/cingular merger, verizon wants to get the rtt up in all major metros and push to talk to function well in those markets as well as new applications that no one has really seen here in the states on standard handhelds. 2004 will be a very busy and competitive year for verizon.

hey if you work for VZW email me at [email protected] becuz i do, and i'll send u my @verizonwireless.com address. I have some questions about becoming a tester too. Which phone will have the most features between the 9900, 7000, and v710 and which will come out first!? I spoke with the various reps in the VZW meeting last month but didn't get any clarification.

RiddleMe33 does not test phones for Verizon wireless. If he did he would know that 1xRTT was launched by Verizon April of 2002, and that the next wireless protocol is called 1xEV-DO available in DC, and SanDiego CA. There are no handsets announced for the USA that work on EV-DO. You can get those from Korea on EBay for about $1000

You see, the main topic of this phone hasn't changed all that much. Whether it be the second post on the fourm, to the 56th page, it's either dates, features, or accessories! Yeayyyyy!!! (I am SSSSOOOOOOOOO bored it isnt even funny). Have a good day everyone. P.S: I called the motorola number (Haha that guys funny--"Hello Moto!" and the fact that he says the word "dude".) They said it would be released within a month. (I got some old lady who sounded exasperated when I called about the v710.)
