Using 3GUpload and the V710...

Just got the V710. I have been using 3GUpload.com to get all my ringtones and wallpapers on my previous phones. When I got the V710 I changed my account and added the new phone. It says the phone is compatible with their services.

The way it works is that you select a ringer and u get a txt message wth the download attached. I have no trouble getting the txt message but everytime I go to download the ringer from the txt it says unable to download.

Is this another one of those things that you have to hack the phone to be able to do?

Right now I send my own mp3 ringtones to myself and have no problem downloading them. I know it won't let u download anything larger than 350 kb or something like that (not sure of exact #). Other than that, I don't see y it wont let u. Are they mp3? Or Polyphonic?

They are polyphonic so it SHOULD work.

How do you send the MP3s...you need a data cable right?

First you have to use some editing software (I use a free program I downloaded called Multiquence) to make a 30ish second clip that u want as ur ringtone. Save it at about 80 kb/sec so its under 350kb, then u can email it to yourself. Your verizon email is your # including area code @vzwpix.com. It'll say u have an email on ur handset, view it and then save the file. Another (faster) way to get mp3s as ringtones is, if u use a transflash card, to do all that (editing) and then put it on the tf card, put it in ur phone and then send that clip to a bogus # (ex. 5555555555). After a few seconds it'll say it cannot send to that # and then go to ur outbox, view the message and it'll let u save it to ur phone. Then u can use it as a ringtone. Hope...
