V710 - $200 and AUG 31st? Really??

First, can a second person confirm/deny that the AUG 31st date shows up somewhere in the back of this month's issue of men's health magazine?

I saw the V710 in this month's men's health about in the middle of the magazine in a section called something like "gear" where they were comparing relatively normal gadgets to insanely expensive luxury items. The price for the V710 showed up as $200.

In the context of the article I saw I assumed the $200 was a 'ballpark' price, but it is a lot lower than I expected so that makes me 😁

If the AUG 31st date shows up as well (not confirmed yet) I also would suspect that it is a safe 'ballpark' date ?? Could it be that AUG 31st is the end of the 2nd Quarter '04, and that is what they based it ...

That depends on the context. Usually we talk fiscal year instead of calendar year at work when we are talking Q2, Q3 release dates (For instance the company I work for starts their fiscal year on Oct 1st, so we are in Q3 '04 right now) On the other hand I guess it would make more sense in a press release to talk calendar year, so you are probably right.

Either way I hope Aug 31st is a wrong date.

As I posted on Howard Forums, I spoke with the manager of the Staten Island Mall Verizon store. I was told that the V710 would probably be one of the video capable phones that will be released with Verizon's End-Of-School/Beginning-Of Summer Promotions. He said it starts June 24. One of the reps from the Downtown Brooklyn store said the same thing. She said it will be released about the same time frame as the LG VX6000. The chick said her boyfriend has been hounding her for info on the V710 also. Lets hope their right.

hey whats up man. I go to staten island mall all the time. Meet up with me for margaritas at Chevys. hehe. Anyways, yes i've heard the same thing. I'd expect the phone by the end of June. Definitely not this month so do not hold your breath. VZW knows definite dates a week before release and I know for a fact they haven't gotten a solid date as of friday. I've heard that they recieved a "June availability date" on their equipment lists.

Good luck

Sucks for me if it's in Aug. I was planning to upgrade in Aug after all of you jumpy mofos worked out the kinks and there was a ROM upgrade and a price reduction. ;)
