V710's bluetooth, ipaq & the net

Greetings,

I'm planning on getting the V710. (And no, I won't ask when it's coming out...) My question is that since it has bluetooth, is it possible to establish a network between it and a bluetooth enabled HP Ipaq pocket PC. Furthermore, purchase appropriate internet data service through Verizon in order to get the Ipaq online while on the go? True net access that is, not some crippled variant.

Secondly, if it is possible, what data transfer rates are to be expected?

If I am asking in the wrong forum please let me know where it'd be more appropriate to ask this. Also, links to any websites explaining in detail to a non-techie how this would be done would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ghalib

There is a guy on HowardForums.com that got a demo unit of the V710 and was able to pair it with his iPAQ and surf the web on Verizon's National Access (i.e. Express Network). First, here is a link to the post.

*should* work.

Verizon has tended towards being the most accepting of running data over the network historically, so it's pretty likely they won't try to block it. The Dial Up Networking profile (which is what you'd need to use it to get data to your ipaq) is one of the profiles that *wasn't* disabled.

The trick is your plan. There's a bunch of permutations for data. You can get an unlimited plan (pricey at $70/mo just for data), a megabyte plan (cheaper, but limited), or a Minutes of Usage plan (where you are merely charged airtime for when you are online).

The folks at the local Verizon store, last time I asked, offered the MOU plan outright when I explained about not wanting to pay for a megabyte or unlimited plan. Apparently...
