V710 Memory Question

The V710 uses SanDisk Cards right...? You can also put them in digital cameras...If the V710 can take the SanDisk cards, will the V710 take the 128MB or the 256MB as apposed to the smaller 1's? If so...then I believe you could store a lot more photos and video...thanks

the phone does take sandisk but its super small memory, smaller than even a penny so it won't on any cameras that i know of

I think the issue of the 15 sec video has nothing to do with the phone memory, rather it is probably due to limit on actual video messaging from VZW. Maybe due to size limit, VZW is limiting its video messaging to 15 sec.

My opinion.....

actually i saw a guy with the phone who had a whole simpsons episode split into four segments...about 7.5 mins, so your probably right its most likely verizon limiting video recording b/c the memory can certainly hold longer clips than that

The V710 takes a new format that SanDisk is selling (T-flash)

You can put the new cards in a sleeve that will make fit into a MMC/SD slot on an existing camera or PDA.

The problem is that there may be internal bandwidth limitations or other such things that make it hard/undesireable to have more than 15 seconds. Or VZW is limiting the phone to 15 seconds to prevent folks from using up too much bandwidth. ...

those 15 secs per clip are probably only for recording, i've seen much longer clips downloaded from websites on the phone

Here's the deal. The phone uses "TransFlash". No camera I know uses that. But, you can put it in a little adapter that turns it into SD/MMC, the same way you can put CF into an adapter to turn it into PCMCIA. If you did that, it should work in many cameras. (I'm looking forward to using my Tungsten T3 to review pictures taken with the camera.)

I think the V710 is one of the first devices to use this memory so I don't believe any major retailers currently stock the cards. Sandisk will probably wait til shortly after the phone is released.
