Sixsigma,

Dial *228 then place the phone to your ear and select option 2 when prompted. You will then hear music for 10 sec. or so and then hang up after that. Do that every 30 days and that way, your phone will be up to date with all the changes we (vzw) do. You will notice that your reception will increase by a bit, ANYTHING HELPS ;-) In addition, dial *18, place the phone to your ear and after you hear the short beeps, the call will auto. end. This you use when you are in an area where you have little reception or none at all. This function will auto. co...

Thanks. I appreciate that.

Someone also said that the *228 doesn't work well and they used their own software or something to flash. Do you have any idea what they're talking about?

The *228 should work. The software flash is something else. It really depend what type of phone you have. You can go to a vzw to have your phone flashed with the most recent software available. This will not improve your reception, though. This is not meant to do that. It sis meant to keep you up to date with your sofware, that all ;-) What type of phone do you have and when exactly did you buy it?

I see. I have the LG TM510, which was a reliable phone when I first got it. But then I broke it and got another one thru the insurance and it is the biggest POS i've ever owned. Constant dropped calls, never more than 1 bar of reception, battery dies after 4 hours on standby. My friends say my phone is a dead chipmunk because they both have about the same reception.. 🤣

My 2 years is up and I have a $100 credit for a new phone so I'm waiting for either the V710 or the LG VX7000. As you can see I probably need a new phone more than anyone on the forum.

Well, now that you metion it. The 510 is still a pos ;-( Unfortunately, you cannot get that phone flashed anymore due to it being discontinued. If it was not too long ago that the insurance co. sent that phone out, you can call them and inform them that they sent you a lemon. If it has been over 30 days, they will not replace it. Having the iption of the 7000, 8000 and the V710, I would get the 8000 or the V710 because. The 8000 because it has a a 1.3 mp camera and because the outer display has 262,000 color and the V710 only has 1.2 mp and fewer color on its outer lcd. The advantage of the V710 is BLUE TOOTH;-) HOPE THIS HELPS ;-)
